I got an email early this am by a guy that wants to get something going.

He's a harp player. GET THIS, he says he plays a CONCERT HARP !!!!

I laughed so hard I almost peed.
He says he has an acoustic pickup on it. (of course, these days anything with a string, right?)
He seems very qualified. (maybe over-qualified) lol

Is there even such a thing as a concert harp?
Isn't that one of those big bastards with the pedals or am I confused as usual?

I have a feeling this will be another experience where someone is peeing and telling me that it's raining. (rain is not yellow, rain is not warm and rain does not smell bad) lol

I'm thinking about it, actually. I wonder what weird sounds he can do with the harp through an effects chain....MmmMmmMmmmm "SPORTING"

Craigslist never fails to deliver the weird and unusual. lol

Ask for an MP3 or video first!

the harp is actually a pretty cool and versatile instrument in the hands of someone that can bend it to their wished. dorothy ashby comes to mind.

...and then there's this.....

Ooh thanks for the YouTube links...lol

Sounds nice and airy, almost ethereal, like it's more crying.

I like to tell them "cry through your mind and hands, the rest will follow you in the pursuit of their own tears for what you feel".

Reminds me of this type of thing...

He says he wants to play some CURE on the harp.. (ooh)

(smiles) That might be lovely, although switching gears for me again.

Sounds like a we're going to jam, I gotta hear what he's got/what he's wanting to play.

I'm starting to think when a non-typical musician offers to play with you, it's a boon, not a curse. This guy is from Craigslist, so we'll see what going on shortly. (fingers crossed and a quick "Hail Mary" for good measure.)

I hope he doesn't want me to help him carry it if it's big. (gulp) lol

Very cool... what is that instrument called? Looks like a lot of work but would be fun to mess around with.
