Since I bought my Taylor acoustic in June, I have been using it exclusively when playing out.
Last night, though, went to an open mic with a Halloween theme, and I as I had a mostly-black outfit (pirate) I decided to play my black Fender CD140SCE instead.
Wow, was I disappointed with the sound of it in comparison to the Taylor! One guy told me it sounded ok, but I coudl sure hear the difference. Maybe if I was tweaking the EQs I could have got it a little better, but not an option.
Now I still play the Fender when doing songs where I'm playing mostly lead parts when I play with Art in the duo - the Tele-like neck and extra light strings are perfect for leads - but won't be using it as the principle strumming guitar in the future.

mike, is it any surprize that a FENDER acoustic can't hang w a Taylor?

it IS nice having choices, no?

every time i play someone else's TAYLOR i always want one. i just don't play enough acoustic these days to justify the purchase though.

these days my acoustic gtr playing gets divided between my '36 O-17 and my Paris Swing Gypsy.

so....how many gtrs does a gtrst need?

...one more.

Not really surprising, comparing a $300 (new) guitar to a $1700 one, but the Fender has decent sound (when EQed correctly) through a decent system. I think that's the difference - the Taylor sounds good through almost anything (even that $99 stupid-deal-of-the-day Gemini speaker I got a few weeks ago).

Gemini? not hip to it.

seems like that should be "two for one deal".

I think I posted about it in the equipment section of this forum.

Burning time in Longview yesterday went by one of the local shops I frequent.

Taylors were 900 - 1500 guidas . . .

Did not play any though due to my exposed belt buckle.
One of our guys ( Chris Wallace ) has one.

The sound is quite extraordinary.

There's actually a psychological condition called "guitar acquisition syndrome." I'm serious.

Oh yeah, when GAS hits, your collection can expand exponentially!

LOL, my GF asked me the other night how many guitars did I own, I said I really dont know. She said what? I said well Ive got some that arent really that great but I rarely get rid of them, so I went around the house and I have 22 guitars and one bass.

You know you got it bad when you cant even remember em all!

I was thinking about my gig tonight and maybe taking about 8 of em and switch every 4-5 songs! LOL!

Ussually our band just gets into a groove and we play 3 one hour sets so I only switch during a set if I break a string.

So we shall see
