For the price it might be worth it to make them at home.

or make like chris squier....and USE a quarter.

i got into using heavier picks a while back. i honestly have no idea how anyone can play w the flex of thinner picks (under 1.5). i know a lot of people do...and sound great, i just could never do it myself!

a few yrs ago when i started getting into gypsy jazz....well, all those guys use picks from 3.0 to as much as 7.0!!!! 7.0 ...man that's like playing w a 2x4!!!!

this guy i used to play with was the "la pompe" (the pump) rhythm gtrst and he used a 5.0 Wegen ($20 pick). man-o....he was stoooooopid loud. he showed up at one gig w a 7.0 Wegen ...we made him put it back in his pocket because it was so loud!

3.0 is as thick as i go. the thickness feels real comfy (what she said).....i like it on electric for feel and tone, and on it acoustic instruments it really does get the strings moving and gives up the goods in the volume dept.

Maybe other manufacturer's materials give more flex, but I use Fender Heavies, which I guess are like 1.1 or 1.2mm. There's virtually no flex in them. A guy showed me this big honking triangular clear pick he uses at the Taylor Roadshow. It was like a piece of steel, about 3mm thick with no flex at all.
Guess it's all what you're used to.

Bob a pick is that thing you have to use to hit those triplets like Steve Harris of Iron Maiden plays, man when I played bass those rifs gave me fits, I ussually used to a pick for those tunes.

if a pick is a plectrum then why is it a pick? what's a pick?

I would say plectrum is proper, kinda like classical

While pick is more redneck

Kinda like the diffference between a violin and fiddle

I have no idea actually, dont really care

I always liked using felt picks on bass, less "clicky" sounding.. I never use a pick anymore, except when doing hybrid picking on my Tele

LOL I thought he meant some funky pick with a felt covering..like to dampen vibrations..

Yumm, I have to check and see what's available vs what's possibly made at my convenience.

felt picks were around in the 1980's? maybe they took them off the market because people were doing inappropriate things with them? lol

ewww.. lol

I want a bow, as in a violin bow and rosin.

I think that might be the ticket.
