Nice tune Sans... Wouldn't mind hearing a nice melodic (electric) solo. Could raise it a notch. It needs something xtra and that would be the first place I'd look to develop it. 2nd would be some BG vocal/harmony tracks.

I don't mind redirects. As long as it leads to music. Keep on Bro!

I concur. It's not intimate sounding enough for just 1 voice and acoustic and begs for vocal harmony at V2 to build. A melodic solo would add interest I think. Mix sounds pretty good but I am having trouble hearing the kick. Many engineers get pretty anal about matching the kick volume to the bass guitar track to lock the groove. OMHO

Thanks for the input and props fellows.
Vocal harmony . . . yes . . . we intend to have some back up vocals on the production version.
Lead guitar . . . yes . . . we recorded without our lead man that night as he had other obligations.

Good suggestions on the bass & drums. This was actually recorded utilizing Steven's electric kit ( after we spent an hour and a half trying to get a midi input to separate out all of the individual pieces ) we debated on raising the kick volume. Full studio version will likely go back to a mic'd acoustic set and eight tracks instead of just right & left.

The biggest issue it has to my ear is where my guitar just dies at the break.
I had hit one lick to many  and I assume that JAX just cut it out without tapering the previous chord.

Really appreciate the input guys. Will print it and share it with the band before this tune goes into pre production.

Debate continues to place on next CD.
I'm thinking we should. Plenty of time to fully develop it and get a good recording mix and master

So it doesn't really exist. So said "oh ok then how abgout my place then". I said where do you live she said you oughta know I'm your wife dumbass. Oh crap the rum did me no favors. She filed for divorce the next week. But didn't she get a dime because all of our money was in a wooden drawer in the house I burnt down. By the time I though of it the house was engulfed in flames . I also burnt 200 KG of product, my birth certificate, 200 overdue parking tickkets, 50 court sopenas, and a bunch martins and gibsons. mainly J-200's and D-28's I was a BIG collector. I should Have planned this out and not gotten drunk and burnt the house because my wife was cheating on me with black midget named "Shorty".

The opportunity costs of that 45 seconds are huge. I could have picked 6 numbers and won over 60 million but instead I took your advice listened to your song. My lawyer agrees you need to pay before you hurt other people by having them hear your music. He thinks 40 million ought be enough. 10 for me 10 for him and 20 to pay off the judge and jury to find our favor. With all these hicks down here on welfare you are totally screwed my friend. So you may just want settle out of court for 10 million 5 apiece for me and my lawyer. Expect a very nasty letter in the mail from my legal counsel soon. It will not be pretty. I do accept paypal for the 10 million though, But you have to pay the fees. I also accept cashiers check and credit cards. Let me know what you decide I'd hate For donnie my lawyer to have to waste 48 cents on a stamp and 1 cent worth of toner to send you this letter. It just would not look good and I'm really not sure he even has the funds to do this as he spent his last 2 dollars screwing penny. She is back to whoring again to make money and get clothes and leave the colony. I told her to raise her rates but she said "I got two tits and I charge 1 dollar for each of them". I said what about your pu**y? she said "it smells like a combonation of smashed roaches and 3 week old rotten fish and noone would pay for that". I said "you have point there, but they can still screw your ass it is cleaner and smells nicer". She said yes "but mt rectum is so large I could fit a train in there and turn it around". I Said "you got a round table up you ass honey?" She no "I have the whole dammed train yard". and I was like wow but that is kinda true She once put a sugar baby watermelon up her butt for a client. That cost him 3 dollars though. One extra dollar because the watermelon really hurt.

Good job, Willie you have now alienated a guy in George that would actually give YOU the benefit of the doubt. (Where the rest of us would call you an idiot in the first 30 seconds you were here)

But I don't care that you are a mental deficient, because then you end up being the forum victim and lemme tell ya, Rob Roy, if you don't know what that means, stick around. You will.

His "p's are hitting". You need a pop filter. You can buy one. I've made one from tights/pantyhose and a coat hanger. However, I developed away to remove the pops after the fact.

Ideally you you want a pop filter. Alternatively you can crank the volume and move away from the mic. The drawback to this is "tape" hiss, room sound, or picking up airplanes, dogs, chair squeaks, etc.

Having said that I do have a solution if pops are already present on a vocal track that you still want to keep.

Open that track in your editing software. Cakewalk, protools etc. I use audacity. It's free and it works.

Highlight just the pop. Eq the bass out of the highlighted pop. Pop is gone. It's that simple.

I realized that the pop was just a bass frequency and experimented. It worked.

You may need to experiment with which which frequencies to pull out. But they are just the bass frequencies.

I cannot tell after the pop is pulled that anything sounds lacking or weird. And I'm picky.

Singer also has pitch issues. I would look at obsessive practicing with matching pitch on a piano. You could also use a pitch shifting program in protools, cakewalk etc. Autotune.

"With" at :26 hits like a "p".
Walk at :30 is off key.
The "C" in "across" hit's like a "p" at :31.
The "p" on "open" hits at :34

Since the vocals start at :24 that's 4 issues in just the first 10 seconds of vocals. My advice is to get or make a pop filter and redo that vocal track.

nice job george. i don't share your beliefs or faith but i do respect you and your efforts to spread the word.

as for advice/critique...as others have suggested i'd develop things a little more w some background vocals and/or instrumental counter melodies and hooks.

Thanks for the input gentlemen.

I respect men whom can "not share my beliefs" and still conduct themselves in a civil manner.
Thank you, all.

The recording was, just a filler for time really, at a rehearsal where we did not all show. An experiment with a new song, and soem different equipment.
I realized about half way through the recording of the vocal track that I had forgotten to install the pop filter, did not even have our best mic in place so I have to accept responsibility for that part for sure.

The whole thing will be re recorded in pre production.

I realize not everyone is up on our nomenclature.
A "shop edit" is basically a primary recording for the purpose of recall and to give us a starting place as it were, for pre production sessions.

Good input and thoughtful. Will definitely be discussed in the pre production sessions.
BandMix ( that is you people ) offer an extremely valuable service, and discerning ear.

You are greatly appreciated in your time.

I can hear (in my mind) a nice arpeggiated piano part in the background for this song!
