The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, (Luke 4:18)

No need to apologize for your disagreement. Your interpretation of Christs commission does not offend me. However, there are evil stingy poor as well as evil stingy wealthy. Some understand what he said is poor in spirit. You will find those poor in spirit amongst both the wealthy and the impoverished. As well as broken hearted rich & poor, and captive rich and poor.

By the way your original post was something like this:

ok I'll eave you with this Haley since you are a man of God
who was Jesus talking about in these verses poor people or Corporations? peace be with you

Can you show me where Jesus ever addressed corporations? If not, then how can you poise that question to Hailey? And the poor were not a conglomerate, they were individuals, some righteous, some unrighteous. To believe otherwise would be so very foolish. Jesus came to save individuals, both rich and poor. So if you are saved and you come from poverty to wealth are you then evil somehow? If your company grows into a corporation, does that somehow make a righteous man unrighteous? Solomon was exceedingly wealthy, as was David and many other righteous in the Bible, not excluding Abraham. Yet David was a man after Gods own heart.

But you are entitled to your opinion as I am mine. I believe Jesus was speaking of those poor in spirit. And that includes the wealthy that God has chosen as well as the poor that God has chosen for salvation.
"it is easier for a rich man to go thru the eye of a needle than to get to heaven" that was spoken by Jesus Christ and he said nothing about "it will be easier for a person poor in spirit to go thru an eye of a needle than to get to heaven.. it's pretty darn hard to go through an eye of a needle

hey Slacker my friend, do you enjoy studying history? I know you are quite the electronics technician but did not know if you like studying cultures and stuff from the past? but anyhow, history books can reveal knowledge about the Knights Templar, these "soldiers" were some of the people that journeyed to Jerusalem to battle the Muslims in order to restore the Holy Land .. anyway as great as these Knights Templar were supposed to be, they took vows of poverty as a basis of following the faith of Christianity.. Jesus come for the poor and unprotected and many times rejected the philosophies of the "upper crust" of the day.. give Caesar what's Caesar's when you look at that coin..

Mark,

My good buddy has a govt job and even HE says he has it made.
They don't do much work.
They paid very well.
They have EVERY holiday known to man off.
Their bene's are second to none, let's not even talk 401K. It's just repulsive.

I hate to say it, but I think they all have it made as well.

so scott, based on your friend who says HE has it made w his HIS gig...you've decided that's an across the board scenario for ALL go'vt workers?????

really?

my last legit 9-5 gig was in the special education racket. all the teachers, aides, residential staff, custodial, and administration....everyone i was around worked their butts off. and trust me...NO ONE was getting rich.

"all gov't workers having it made" ....that's just more urban myth that's all too easily mass consumed by all willing to jump to conclusions and accept sweeping generalizations.

I didn't say "all", but if there's 1 guy, I am willing to believe there may be more..

Whoever said that just because you got one apple in the barrel that's a bit on the soft side, that all the apples are that way?

But it's not a big leap to think there might be a couple more...

It's like everything else, NEED CONGRESSIONAL INVESTIGATION.. lol

ok...but when you say that "govt workers have it made"....that does imply that they are bunch of lazy lard asses sucking off the gov't's teat making tons of money they don't deserve.

are there some lazy lard asses working for the gov't.....of course there are. just like in other field of employment.

do they all "have it made"? well, i found my stint very rewarding.....just not so much so from a monetary standpoint.

Mark, not all govt employees are the same..not by far.
You already know this, c'mon.

Some seek out govt jobs for intrinsic reasons. ( like you, I'd guess)

The others, like this guy, who doesn't help people or anything even remotely noble, are just going through the motions.

He's laughing about it, he collects an obscene amount of money and his bene's are second to none. I don't even want to talk about his 401K.

I just look at him and my stomach rumbles.

When I say that govt employees have it made, it means most of them and they are pretty well compensated, even the dullards. (But one really can't completely generalize the situation, regardless. I'd have to admit as a thinking individual, it's probably more fair to examine it case by case.)

It's hard to be on the outside looking in, when you got rampant nepotism in my neck of the woods and under performance as a day to day occurrance.

(stomach noise) lol

glen, the problem that i have in discussing politics w those like yourself is that at some point you've decided your OPINIONS and assesments of things are FACTS.

GLENNY J wrote:
AW, Mark it makes me sadder that so many people believe that as long as the government keeps PRINTING money there will be enough for everyone to get a government job.

that's merely your OPINION that "so many belive that". sure, there are some, true enough. but i disagree it's as many as you like to believe. personally, i don't know anyone that believes that.

GLENNY J wrote:Even sadder is the fact that we have become a society that despises the wealthy instead of opening the door and encourage and allow the poorest the opportunity to become wealthy. Sad but that is what America used to be about.

oh, it's a "fact" is it? no, glen....it's your OPINION. and my opinion differs.

GLENNY J wrote:Now it is about getting a govt job, protecting that govt job and making the average tax payer foot the bill. The hidden taxes that the average idiot doesn't see are HUUUUGGGEE!!!!!!!

again, your OPINION. hardly a "fact".

GLENNY J wrote:Thanx for the input Mark. I just wish you would change some of your liberal it's OK to steal ideals if it gets passed as a LAW.

and this is where it's especially useless discussing politics with you, glen. not only do you present your OPINIONS as facts.....but then you decide and state for a FACT what MY opinions and beliefs are!!!! sorry to burst your bubble...i do not believe it's ok for ANYONE to steal. but that's almost besides the point since first off we need to agree upon what "stealing" is, and when and where it occurs.

GLENNY J wrote:A black sheep is still black even if you paint it white.

(did any body notice that because Mark is civil , the worst thing I could call him is liberal?) ( I like his playing also. )

i noticed! glen, as usual i appreciate the above the belt discourse w you. thanks bro.

Aren't you a blast Mark? That whole post was a typical liberal attack.

The reason why I aggravate the liberal argument is because I do offer such different opinions. In discourse with liberal thinking I always find that any method of changing, diverting, and obfuscating any thought that may lead to the truth is the first line of defense.

I have to chuckle, because in this case you cut and pasted to prove out your point. THIS WAS THE ONLY WAY YOU COULD PROVE OUT your attack. (all your opinion).

Thanks for trying... You are actually a pretty good guy. Sorry you are just wrong on so many political views. NOW THAT'S OPINION. :)

You know Mark...

We both believe in the greater good for all in society. FACT, I believe this country was built on the sheer will of men, that were willing to assume any risk, to prosper, and in the end serve the greater good of all.

Fact, you believe only a large government can maintain a stable population. Only a large powerful central government can equalize everyone. Every one is entitled to their fair share.

I believe in the foundations that made this country limitless. You believe in the European model we tossed out 236 years ago.

Still don't make you a bad guy. Just remember... I also appreciate your civility... Even when you pull that liberal bullshhhit type crap.

Tip Toe through the Tulips! :)

A lot of govt workers may be considered 'overpaid' because they are paid at all. Any worker supporting or working in an unconstitutional program is grossly overpaid. He should be in jail.

Consider: they closed the park here in Roswell GA (of course we are still using it) but they did NOT cut off funding to teach Moroccans how to make pottery or to determine why 75% of Lesbians are overweight. That per Neil Boortz - check his website for attributions and there is tons more.

Have noticed that the govt scum are providing more protection for the borders of war memorials in DC then they are for the nation's borders?

Fund them? f**k them!

How about govt cops - the Fishery and Hatcheries Swat Team? The illegal Dept of Education has one too, and 70 some other departments have SWAT teams? Really? How is that authorized under law? Answer: it's not.

IRS? Fire all those second rate bastards. Did you know that if you call them for help and then they tell you wrong info - it is considered your fault?

We could do with about a fifth of the govt workers we have under actual rule of law - the constitution of the United States. I hear them whining that the military is too small. My aunt fanny! You don't need a huge military to defend this nation. You just need to actually do it. Currently, they are not.

Ever wonder why they pass illegal laws instead of just amending the constitution, which is legal and the specified why to do things?

It's because those pigs know darn well it would it would be slaughtered by the voters and the states wouldn't ratify any of their baloney.

Senators, presidents and congresspigs can be bought - and have been. Most by Saudi Arabia who employs our soldiers as mercenaries. But to take it to the citizens and the states - we would not tolerate that and there are too many of us to buy.

I'll weep for government workers after I finish weeping for the American citizens who are victims of their 'help.' Could be a while...

Someone told me tonight that a small bunch of republicans are going after the president to try a coup. (I hope that's a joke)

(Now that scared me, no so much that we would be rid of obummer, more like a pack of dbags like Boehner setting themselves up as emperors of the USA.)

Interesting that the current whitehouse administration closed the National Mall to WWII vets because of the government shutdown but it is open today for an amnesty rally!
