Which do you prefer, studio work or live?
Sometimes when your in the studio for months,
you can wait to get back on stage, and after
being on the road for months you can't wait
to record again.

Touring is a way to promote the records.
There are some that are strictly studio
musicians. I like to do both, either way
to each his own.

Playing live is a necessary evil for me. Too many uncontrollable variables for a control freak lol. I like the creative aspect of writing and recording, of possibly making something that will outlive me. Performances can be fun but are mostly a lot of work.

I am a live music junkie. I feed off the energy in the room and I like the "just play" aspect. Recording is my kryptonite. I do it out of necessity but never really get comfortable. Too many choices and I always listen back after a few days and say "Oh if only I held that note a bit longer it would have created tension." Or "Wow, do we need a little auto-tune here."

Not much experience in studio. What I have done was enjoyable.
IMO nothing beats a live performance.
Live . . . hands down.

I love them both! They are both a lot of work and just like everything else in life you have to take the bad with the good!

You made a good point,we're our own worse critics
as musicians. Oddly enough when others listen
to what we've done, they love it.

Thanks for the perspective, playing music is a joy.
Whether the music is recorded or live,we share
the love with the world.

Thanks to all for sharing your thoughts.

I love to perform. Writing music is challenging and fun, but I grew up in theater, so a lot of the enjoyment for me is visual on top of the music itself - I would much rather sit down and have the pleasure of seeing a dramatic performance then a bunch of hippies head bang a speaker cabinet :) Something I'm pursuing is setting up the stage to go along with the music, so live performance for me is more fun than the studio.

Would I love to be a part of that ?

Yes indeed.

Absolutely.

That's why I kind of dig MEATLOAF.

I don't like the music so much, (it's ok) but he does a mean show.

The only thing better in that vein off the top of my head is ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW.

(that's entertainment) lol

Studio.

I'd be quite happy to make songs, have an influence, make money, and stay a ghost.
