I usually get pretty bored during a solo. It's fun to play them, I'll admit, but every time I hear a long guitar solo it reminds me of Spinal Tap when he plays his guitar with a violin.

I love that Steve Vai has lightning fingers, but I can't sit and listen to him play for too long.

The best solos ADD to the song, not 'live for themselves'. Santana's Europa and Samba Pa Ti and the Allman Brothers' Jessica would be perfect examples in my mind.

Haha! I was thinking of you and Jeff when I posted it. I stand by what I said and won't make any judgement calls between your versions. I HAVE seen/heard Carlos play this live, and it was f*cking awesome!
