It seems to me that it is a good ay to see what musicias are around, but there is not a good search engine to find who needs what. Are there any bands looking for musicians? A lot of musicians just looking for bands?

Hey, Ruby. :)
.
I can't afford a membership at this time, but I've done several Bandmix searchs, (using distance from my zip-code), and I found about 20 musicians in CT that I'm interested in.
.
I saved them as favorites, if the time comes that it's worth the money . . .
I can't contact them w/o paying, but they can contact me.
.
One of them did. We've played.
I had another musician find me, using Google search. My Bandmix profile came up for him.
So, yeah, it can be productive . . . .

You know, one thing I've seen after involving myself in several "find other musicians" type sites is this.....even when there are a ton of musicians registered, it more often than not seems that what you need or are looking for is not available locally! If you are, say, a singer looking to hook up with a fiddler, a gong player and a Polish trumpeteer, you'll find them alright - in several states except your own. This means you are down to 1) moving 2) settling for a long distance internet colab or 3) giving up.

Is this a cosmic joke played on us regularly? I have to wonder!

Awwww Irminsul....you crack me up...gong player and a polish trumpeteer.

I must say that I would never give up, and probably not move, but just keep looking.....these sites are just another option in the big picture, you may find what you are looking for, and you may not.....keep looking...loads of place to look.[/i]

Hooked up with a bass player that contacted me from here. He & his wife came to the acoustic gig, then we all headed up the street to the open jam & played a few. Had a great time, & we're gonna see what we can put together. There's my $10 worth!

I've neen around here since last winter. Can't seem to find anyone here who is at my age (58...) musical interest(classic rock, R&B, Blues) and are willing to play more than once a month on the same night as anyone else.

Met and jammed with some guys, but couldn't get on the same page. It seems like all the musicians I run into are either pussy-whipped, head cases, have delusions of grandeur regarding their playing, or are already playing their butts off in working groups. I have to wonder why they bother to post profiles here.

Thank God I still have a jazz quartet to play with.
