I liked The Kinks cover. Good combo on the vocals. The right songs and a few practices... you guys could be real good.
Good luck with it Mike.
I like your no quit attitude. 8)

Well done Mike.

I'm a little hesitant about doing a similar project.
Eric assures me we can pull it off.

We'll see.

I hid behind volume and full band for a long time, it takes some time to get comfortable in a solo or duo acoustic situation. Biggest thing for me solo is playing everything too fast, as evidenced by the following videos
from a few songs I did solo today at a farmer's market. At least it let me get in 5 songs at this speed!
Sorry about the shaky video, my wife's arms are not too steady when it comes to camera work!

Yeah . . . you cookin alright.

Eric works on me to slow me down. Being as live rock performances is all I've ever done in public ( musically ) it's going to be quite the switch.

Well done despite the speed issues. Nice set up too.

It's funny, I never notice how fast I'm playing something until I either listen to it after, or put a clock on it! ("2 minutes? WTF?!")

I think that we get into the "get it done" mode traveling and setting up and never really shift gears into the enjoy music mode.

Could be it for me at any rate. I'm not happy nor comfortable tell my gear is up and sound check is done.

I've never specifically done Youtube vids. I imagine there's a science to it, just llike live performances or studio work, that takes a different approach. Beside the fact I'm devastatingly handsome as well as photogenic, I have no desire to do a Youtube vid other than it's another vehicle to get some music heard. The problem I see with vids is once you see the vid, if you subsequently hear the song, you'll automatically think of the vid. It's one of the reasons I never really liked MTV. When I heard the song on the radio I imediately thought of the vid. Kind of spoiled my imagination. But now vids are even more important since I heard Google is looking more for vids than type. Perhaps I need to put a few vids back on my website, with few being the operative word. Last year we had numerous youtube vids on the site, and people didn't read the stories, which is the purpose of the website, to get people to read and use their imaginations. But these days the majority of people want to be mindlessly entertained. It's more important in pop music to be able to do a music video, shameful really, that people like Mama Cass and Janis Joplin wouldn't make it in today's music world.

Im afraid to put videos up cause all the gals will start hitting on me, just goes with the territory of looking like rock star I guess!

Bob, one of these days you will realize that what you think is the way to go isnt anymore, the world constantly changes and those that dont change with it just get left behind.

I think regardless the really good music still rises, and dont use your looks as an excuse for why your music is accepted, if it hits a nerve with people, even if its only one person then its served its purpose, if it cant hit a nerve then maybe it aint worth a sh*t to begin with.

I always look for emotion in music, not really what someone looks like, the people looks arent into music anyway, they are in to the celebrity side of things.

Don't complain, every time I get video'd I end up doing something I shouldn't or saying something I shouldn't have.

The next thing you know, I don't want that nonsense on You Tube.
And if they want to see me say something off color to the drunk in the corner, let them come to the show.

Actually Bob, what you say is very smart.
I know a guy who posted all kind of YouTube stuff and the chit is awful.
I tried to tell him in a nice way and dbag doesn't want to listen, so they leave those chit vids up for people and if you don't laugh, you'll cry.
(I got my favorites that make me laugh and that's exactly the reason why you don't leave the manure up on YT.)

Here, let me show you what I mean.. lol
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kxrdZ1PB5c

The chit is badly recorded, badly shot and sounds lackluster at best.
FOCUS-FOCUS_FOCUS..did I mention focus the cam?

And that's just a random one, they get better and worse, depending.
But big fat dummy thinks that's the chit..and well I suppose he's 1/2 right.
It's chit alright. You gotta think about what you are posting for the world to see and listen closely to it, else you are just wiping sh*t all over yourself and proclaiming how wonderful you are.

Now these guys aren't bad if you see them in person, but these vids would never let you know that if that's all you see or hear.

"Put your best foot forward, not just the biggest or smelliest foot".

PS: Need I mention "CAMERA SHAKE". Come on people, you can do better than this. No one has a fing tripod? yeah RIIIIGHT>!!!
