Just thought I would share.

I recently bought a Line 6 G50 Digital Wireless System for my guitar.

This thing in awesome.

Years ago I had a Nady, it was analog, which when the signal got weak, it would fade, not go away but fade.

5 years ago I got a line 6 X-4, which was good, but if you lost the signal it went dead, and your tone lost something.

But this new one is built like a tank, I mount the reciever on my board, its a stompbox design, but there is no plastic, and the transmitter is heavier than any Ive ever had, all the past ones were plastic, but this thing is made of metal.

It has an attenuator that lets you set it like the length of a cord to it, I set is for 15 ft, and when I switch to a cord I cant tell the difference.

These arent cheap, around $400, but if you playing a lot and need somethig thats built tough and you dont want to sacrifice tone, then you should check one of these out. Before buying anything else.

As long as all the indicator bars remain lit during the sound check it's not been an issue.
Though if so much as one bar drops, I put in fresh batteries.
At any rate, I usually keep two in my hip pocket.
JAX 's Shure mic will most likely need to be changed anyway if the gig is a long one.

Change the batteries and keep the old ones for rehearsals.

I always put in new batterys before a show.

So George you have this same wireless, man its just way better than the X-4 Ive been using.

Last night I messed with it again on my amp, I honestly cant hear the difference between it and a cord.

Plus its built like a tank!

Yeah JW
I've been dragging that G50 all over hell and half of Texas.
The CARVIN wireless I bought could best be described as useless.
The SAMSON I had before worked OK, but it colored the sound, and the range . . . well you might as well be on a 12' cable.
In some environments (especially indoors ) I've been able to wander all over the room without perceptible delay, and on stage, I switch it on and forgetaboutit, it's that good.

P.S.
Don't tell anyone but I just went Ibanez Tube Screamer in front of my MARSHALL CLASS 5 . . . so far . . . I'm loving it man.

George I have an old Tube Screamer on my pedal board and most of the time I have it kicked on.

I can roll the volume on my guitar way down and it doesnt suffer that hi end roll off that happens, maintains its sparkle with the guitar volume rolled way down.

Ive got two boxes on my board, one is this nasty sounding pedal called a Black Jack, dont know where or when I got it, it was just in one of my old boxes with gear its combination booster/distortion pedal.

So my rig I have clean, semi dirty channel and real dirty, then I can color each channel with the TS or the BJ/Boost or BJ/Distortion. Basically giving me 6 channels of saturation.

I have my TS set up, with the drive at about 10 oclock, the tone control at about 1:30, and the level at about 2 oclock, that seems to work real well with my mesa no matter what channel Im using.

Good Choice, cause you really cant go wrong with a TS is just has that sound.

Rock ON!

Im taking a break this weekend, but monday night the bassist for Aint Yo Mama is back in town, then tues practice with my new group, then sat is our first gig, Im not sure if Im going to hang with this group or not, need to do a gig to see.

Someone should ask the Trans Siberian Orchestra guys what they use for wireless. They play huge arenas, and at times go to the far end of the arena and get on a second stage lift that takes them 200 feet from the stage and never a drop off in sound.

I'll bet they paid more than $400.00 for it . . .
