3rd practice last night with Art, things seem to be working, we're planning on doing a few songs at an open mic next week, with me on 12-string and we're looking at playing at a small coffee shop on a weekend soon.

Here's the songs we've got do far (some still need some work). Remember this is an acoustic act, hence the mellow stuff.
Ventura Highway
Here Comes The Sun
Wish You Were Here
Ruby Tuesday
Heart of Gold
Into The Mystic
Like A Hurricane
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Wild Horses
Free Fallin'
Locomotive Breath
Melissa
Starman
Peaceful Easy Feeling
Things We Said Today
Norwegian Wood
Celluloid Heroes

Man I have always loved that song Wild Horses, never have played it but just love it for some reason.

I guess since Im getting divorced from Angie, that Angie should be my new favorite, LOL!

Sound good like its coming together.

Man this group Ive gotten with likes guitar solo songs, we are doing Working Man, Stranglehold and Voodoo Chile. The other guy wants to play the Stranglehold solo, so I just said be my guest. I think we are doing some things that are too guitar heavy, but the insist, so I guess I will brush up on some Hendrix and Lifeson.

You doing the lead vocals on all of them Mike? I've probably played 90% of those tunes. Starman is a toughie to sing and play.

Nice collection of popular acoustic tunes. Should be fun! "Heart of Gold" is the first tune I learned on the Harmonica... simple easy melody.
Good luck with it! 8)

Looks like a fun set Mike. We have received several requests for Wild Horses over the years but never worked it up. Have fun.

I'm singing about half, which is what I was looking for.
2 more songs we forgot to do last night - Ohio and The Boxer.
With 40+ years of experience each, we can get comfortable with these songs real easy.
Both of us have Taylor 6 strings, 12 strings, and other instruments (Art plays harmonica in a neck holder on Heart of Gold and Hurricane) so we get a good variation in sound, too. He can't do harmonies (or high parts) as easily as I can, but can do them when he learns the parts, so we're attempting things like on Peaceful Easy Feeling - he sings the lead on the choruses and last verse, and I'll do all the harmonies as well as lead on 1st 2 verses.
He also can't improvise leads, but can copy some, so is taking the lead parts on Wish You Were Here and Wild Horses.

Mike, will you be doing anything off the "40 Years of Life, and Happiness and all of those things" album? could you pull off When The Bomb Falls? live?

I've done that song solo acoustic a few times, but not since the Marathon bombing - the song may be permanently shelved around here because of that incident.
I've been doing both She Stole My Heart and Have I Told You Today solo, the 2nd is in our 'learn' pile, as I want to do it with a nice 12-string lead part.

I was doing an open mic (solo) last night and someone asked 'what the name of our group/duo' was. Guess we'll have to come up with something!
