Me? still trying to get this album finished... after 28 months

Salute!

28 months is not long, just about the same for me - I started working on this album at the same time I sent my previous one to get mastered. That one took me 40 years to complete!

Got word on two of the shows we have been booked for in the Dallas area.
They are wanting a full blown JM concert for Friday night.
Spent last night playing guitar, and practicing operating the lights / fog foot-switches. It's going to be kinda tricky, may have to revamp my board and put a little more space between the switches for a smother more accurate transition.
OH these first world problems . . .

Kicked some rockin' ass last night. There were a couple of decent singers at the open mic, including one new youngster, but I wowed 'em with:
I Wanna Be Sedated (first time I ever did a Ramones song)
original from new CD
I'm 18
Encore:
Hey Joe (mixing in a little of the original Deep Purple's mexican-style intro/ending)

An old friend (McGill days 39 years ago!) stopped in to hear me, and spent the evening talking with a guy who had contacted me via craigslist ad a while back, so possibly something might happen that way. His comment was that my videos don't do me justice and I was much better live (I was having a good night!)

Live always displays energy we can only hope to portray through media.
It indicates to me that he was not just listening but hearing and feeling your performance.
I would definitely not take that as a knock against your video efforts.
Just a statement of the reality we live with.

Been recording/producing since February.
Sometimes I love it, sometimes I hate it.

And most of it has been a learn as you go experience.

Keeping this thread alive!

Last night 'pulled the trigger' on my new CD at Amazon, should take a week for them to get it updated. In the meantime I'll work on getting it up on bandcamp and Kunaki, too.

Tomorrow: going to Guitar Center for the ukulele workshop in the morning. Wife is going out in the afternoon so hoping for a ocuple of hours of quiet studio time. At night going to an open mic and hopefully the guy I auditioned the other night will be there so I can see how he does in front of a crowd.

I'm writing....... which as stated here by others, can take a long time depending on who you are and what you want or do. My very first song was posted on BM some 7 years ago now. So I kinda grew up here on the Internet as regards music.
That don't make BM a friend, that means I'm loyal, something odd in our world.

Monday update!

Saturday night open mic went fairly well with the new guy - we did Wild Horses and a slow-mellow version of Like A Hurrican together, and considering we had only done them together once, went well and got some good comments. We're getting back together on Wednesday. My only concern is that 'Art' is very laid back about this whole thing.

Uke class at GC was prety much a joke. They should have listed it as 'abolute beginners class' - the instructor was no more experienced than I was. Two other attendees, neither of whom had their own uke, but both had enough guitar experience that the 'lesson' of a learnign a few chords and strumming pattern was finished in 20 minutes.

Uploaded new album to Kunaki - took 2-1/2 hours, so that killed any recording time on Saturday. Proof copy should arrive this week. Set up the new album on bandcamp, and videoed a short descriptive thing I will use in my 1 minute promo video.

Through the forums at homerecording.com found a local drummer who is interested in exchanging recording favors - he's going to try doing drunm tracks for me, and I can do guitar tracks for him. Will see how that works out. Now I need to find a sax player willing to do the same!

good topic

I'm gearing up for...something musically: just not quite sure what yet. for
I'll have a new bag for me Uilleann pipes in the mail in a few days, so I'll be pipin again.
Added a few new toyz to the stoojo:
-GSP 1101 rack guitar effects
-Presonus Studio tube preamp for vox

I'd still consider joining some kinda band here, be it blues, or celtic but I don't really work at it so I just sorta poke around downstairs on my own.

peace,
R
