Yes, he had guts to take on the role of mayor in a city that has been corrupt for decades. You simply can't win in that scenario. Now the bankruptcy has been declared illegal by a judge. This is not going to be pretty.

what a total big of sh*t he was handed. plenty will brand him a coward and quitter for walking away....but it's easy enough to see where he's coming from. and easy enough (you'd think) to recognize the strength it takes to say...."f**k you" w/o coming out and saying it in so many words.

i used to watch him play back in the day and though i was a solid thru and thru knick fan, i always respected what a great, classy, and gutty player he was. character will always shine through.

Guys

I used to write for site called LewRockwell.com. One of the current writers who has been with LRC forever, is Karen Costner. She can be found in the blog area and has a column / archive.

She is the only person outside Jimmyd who ever says good things about Detroit. As a paleo-Libertarian, she is looking at a sort of anarchy as public services can not fill the needs of the people, so entrepreneurs are taking up the slack. She is liking what she sees.

She has made me consider it from that angle. Though I can't tell if that spirit is alive in all the city, or just her part of it.
