I get an email about once a week from BM with a list of the people with profiles who have been checking my profile, as well as any new members in the area.

Guessing that many of these 'checkers' are people who got a similar email from BM and are looking to see who was checking them - I check most new members in my area when I see them. Of course half (or more) don't have contact info and 3/4 are not my genre.

Mike
I always check too - not too many Deadheads, though !
Last month I did get a nice email from another member who really liked my playing .... dude is a great player ; way better than me..... I guess he is smarter than me too - he never posts in the forum.

I used to message everyone new whom visited my page and thank them.
I don't recall ever receiving a reply, so I stopped the practice.
Besides, I allowed my PM to lapse.
I guess I'm going to have to renew, I have calls and personal request coming in so often I cannot keep up.

I need three bands, not so much for demand sake as scheduling.
It's tougher than I thought it would be to do music "on the side ".
So many distractions, so much interference.
Wish everyone ( and their family ) had my psychotic dedication.

OK . . . I'm through pissin n moanin . . .

There was a period where I got nothing about this. They have started sprouting again of late. I remember Fisherman asking if something was wrong because he hadn't got anything for a while either.

You might have more luck posting your bandmate needs here...to get someone from the NSA and FBI

Hi guys...did you get the water back on in St George county yet? Don't work too hard!

I am relatively new here and thought you could contact someone if you desired, once registered. Then I began to see comments about needing to be a paying member to do this. I wondered if they would REALLY do that cuz I also thought I saw something about needing to be fully registered by putting all your info in.

Soooo…..I then I gave it a test and tried to send an e-mail (GuitarMikeB will see my profile “visit”), and sure enough you REALLY can’t contact unless you are a premium member - WOW. Hard to believe they would make you pay to communicate, but it is their site. It seems very restrictive to me, and takes a lot away from the site capability. Maybe more people are willing to pay for this than I realize – don’t know. Now I see why there are addresses in some profiles. Oh well.

Also, being new, I did a lot of looking at profiles just to see more about the folks here, and how profiles are done. I didn’t realize that people get notified of this and may wonder why you are looking, but don’t contact them. It may just be curiosity.

That is the way they fund this site brother. They let you use most things on this site for free but they have to pay their bills too. I use my profile site as a webpage. when I find someone that is interested in me from CL I direct them to my page here and that way they see everything they need to know about me. If I see someone trying to contact me I just pay the 10 bucks a month and contact them. Having said that I met the band I have been playing with for 3 years on here and they are bad@ss musicians and we have played some REALLY COOL gigs! I don't plan on ever leaving them! Welcome to bandmix and good luck.

Thanks for the welcome and your reply. I can understand and appreciate the funding needed for the site. I guess I was surprised because I have seen other sites allow messaging between members at no cost, but I realize operating expenses can vary site-to-site. Very cool that you met band members on this site, so it has paid off!

BTW – Cool original songs you have on your BandMix page. Keep it going! I am in the very beginning stages of writing my own songs and (badly) playing the instruments when I can’t recruit my son or brother. I am no musician, but working at it.

Recruited band members.
Made friends all over the US.
Learned tons of new information as related to music / equipment ETC.
Have made contacts that continue to provide gigging opportunities.

Is a good community.
Not a "Premiere Member" presently . . . but will be again soon in order to hopefully flesh out another project.
