LOL Wow they look tired.

The one guy reminds me of DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER..

PS: Is that guy playing a Danelectro bass?
I knew they need $, but that's going too far.

That is about what it costs to cut an album in a top studio these days. The "recording contracts" of the past have essentially dried up and blown away so if you have a lot of fans, Kickstarter is a great way to fund a record album. I know several other performers who have used this to get it done.

This is the new reality unless you have a rich uncle. Kickstarter is a useful tool for musicians who are ready to record and need funds to make it happen.

I'm talking about the Danelectro bass..they are the worst of the worst.
(I had one till we burned it at a bonfire)

Kickstarter??

Is that the web site device they are using to ask for funds?
Sounds like a good idea if it works..

pledge.com is a better place for bands trying to fund an album than kickstarter. Bloodgood's video editor should have paid more attention to matching sound with video.

I have no idea what that bass is Scotty. It looks more like a Parker than a Dano to me but who knows? Tuners on the body Steinberger style? Maybe a custom one-off bass.

Mike,
I don't know anyone who has used pledge.com but 5-6 SoCal bands managed to fund their whole recording project with Kickstarter recently so it seems to be working for some. Welcome to the new way to get things done in the music bus.

PLEASE-PLEASE-PLEASE stay away from Danelectro instruments in general.

Those shitty little stomp boxes by Danelectro are the PITS as well.
(do not bother, not even in an emergency)

Carbon Leaf just used pledge.com and reached 100% of their goal in less than 3 weeks. Their new album will be released in September because of this.
They offered everything from basic $15 for CD and digital download to autographed guitars to $20000 private performance in your backyard.
Kickstarter gives the donor nothing (unless the artist decides to reciprocate), whereas with pledge.com, donors get something for their investment and don't actually give any money until the 100% goal is reached.

Capt I sat in with some folks one night and they handed me a Dano guitar, and it really wasnt that bad. A bit noisy when I kicked the distortion pedal in, but it played ok to me.

The Dano electric 12 string is a great inexpensive substitute for a Rickenbacker.

WOW that is surprising..

Maybe there are some reasonable Danelectro equipment, but I never have seen one.

The bass I had was beyond bad. The neck is what sealed the deal.
Awful, thin, unbelievably bad truss rod.

The stomp boxes I messed with at one point and the only thing they are good for is to break down for parts.

I haven't really met that many Danelectro guitars, just a couple and they were just as bad and sounded similarly.

I'm sure exceptions do exist..just be wary.

It actually looks like Kickstarter and Pledge are nearly identical in how they operate. Both have tons of rewards available to donors (completely defined by the artists) so donors do get something in return for their pledge if they wish and no money changes hands until the goal is reached. Same concept exactly. Maybe take another look Mike.

Bloodgood is now 2 wks into their Kickstart campaign and already at $10K so the outlook is good to reach their goal by Aug 7th. I am not a huge fan of their music but still wish them well in this project. It is pretty rare for Oz and Les to start a project they can't finish and I suspect this album will be true to form. It is interesting to watch this process unfold.

Well they did it! The project was funded 2 weeks ahead of schedule so now they can finish up the tracks and get it to mix and mastering. Album release is scheduled for the fall.

Rock on you Metal maniacs!
