Stop focusing on TABLOID stuff and the artist's image. Focus on the music. That's the key.

And stop picking only ONE of the artists I like. The key to this is variety and nostalgia. The music I grew up hearing on the radio when I was a kid.

This also includes the boy band/teen pop era of the 90s, and the American Idol artists as well.

This is not tabloid stuff!!! This is from Madonna's own book .. this is her creation, her art!!!

Sorry! But again, remember, it's about the music of any of my favorite artists.

Maybe if you spent a little more time on looking good the boyz would take a little more notice.

You wonder why you get trolled and laughed at? Read what you wrote: "I'm looking for another guy around my age to develope a long-lasting friendship with ..." This is a place for musicians to connect musically. If friendship develops over time because of the musical connection, that's a plus, but not what this place is about.

The guy doesn't have to be within my area. And the reason why no one has shown up is because you guys respond to everything, and don't give a chance for any of the less active members to chime in.

Also what is it with people taking this place so literally? What is wrong with wanting to develope a friendship first, one that's based on a wider variety of common interests, rather than JUST music?

People not in your area are not going to be able to help you IN YOUR AREA like you are asking for.
"Less active members"?? Who are they? Either people are here, or they're not.
How many times do we have to tell you - this is not a place to 'make friends' first - it's a place for musicians to discuss music things (and a wide variety of political BS from some).

Have you EVER looked online, and saw some of the other people besides yourself, and the other regulars?

What are you talking about? I'm not even socially active in my community. And even though I'm gay, I'm not looking for a boyfriend. I'm looking for someone talented. Someone who has a good understanding of music theory, and can read music, and has a good mixing and recording setup at his place. Someone who can help me recreate some of my favorite pop and soft rock songs, but who only does it for fun, rather than a job. Sort of a music nerd if you will. He doesn't have to be a recluse or anything, but just someone who is moderately active, and maybe doesn't have a whole lot of friends to play music with already.

The less active members are the ones who do not post as much. The ones who are newly registered and might've just found out this place has a forum.

And I must say, although they sounded like good places to make friends on initially, I'm dissappointed in all the places I've been lead to. Everybody takes them literally. All the music communities I've been lead to everybody never put friendship first, and music second. The same thing was said about Guitar Center.

How am I supposed to discover something better, if I can't even find anything on Google?

And here's another thing, a lot of the places that were reccommended to me, I needed to use it in conjunction with yet another tool. For example, in order to get the proper results on this site, I need to share my profile with others in my community. In order to get the proper results from my printed ad at Guitar Center, I need to be able to stick around at the store, play some of my covers, and directly observe, and answer any questions a given person might have.

Obviously, the person you are looking for, who would embody all of your requirements, would also have a modicum of self respect and would not want to be weighed down socially by such a frumpy couch potato as you present yourself to be. Even though you happen to be blind, if they can drive then they are not blind and you look like a straight Christian from some uptight church that does not like pop music.

Wow! Couch potato? Looking like a Christian from some uptight church who does not like pop music? Serious? Where are you drawing these conclsusions from?

What do you mean by these people don't want to be weighed down socially? The people I'm looking for would NOT feel that way about me. They would like me for me.

And also stop calling them requirements. Due to my varied music tastes, I may need to find individuals who like certain subsets of my favorite decades and genres. For example, a guitar player who likes playing MOR/AC ballads and rock, or a keyboard player who does a lot of current dance music, or someone who plays alternative based pop/rock.

What are you implying with that statement. I need to reach someone who can drive, and who would be glad to pick me up whenever we want to jam. And it would have to take place at his apartment or home, because my dad is always home, and I don't have a good place to set up. This is about finding a few special friends who love me for who I am, and who enjoy doing whatever together.

And why are people so out-of-touch with the different levels of blindness? There's sighted where the person has 20/20 vision, then there are people who are visually impaired, and can get their eyesight corrected to 20/20, then there's a type of visually impaired called legally blind, which means the person cannot get their vision corrected to 20/20, but who do have some level of sight. Then there are people who are legally blind, and only have something called tunnel vision. Then finally, you have those who are totally blind, and cannot see a thing, except for maybe light and dark patterns.

A lot of people assume I fall into the last one, when I fall into the category of legally blind.

But again, I find it very odd how every place I've learned about so far that was said to be a good place to find the musicians with the music tastes I was looking all turned out to be huge duds.

Nope! I will not shut up. I will not give up on this search.

I will still ask around on here in hopes that someone nicer will show up and lead me to ANOTHER place where I can accomplish what I originally intended to accomplish on Baton Rouge Rocks and this site. Learn about a VARIETY of places to spread the word regarding what I'm looking for, create a profile and post the one video of me that I have so far. I plan to create more. And make proper connections.

Part of the problem in my search is that I am not given a whole lot of places to work with, and each one shows it's limitations early on.

For example, Craigslist was a good place for awhile to post ads, but I had no idea who it was reaching. When I did get responses, it was from people who were completely clueless or individuals who were just joking with me. I would post several different versions of the ad, both a long version, and a shorter version. Neither of them reached someone simply looking for a friend who just happened to enjoy playing pop and soft rock music. I needed a little local spot, or a comment section so I could answer any questions people had regarding my ad, and find out if the audience I was reaching frequented the site.

This site shows it's limitations due to the fact that the people I'm trying to reach are not going to want to pay an extra fee JUST to be able to contact someone.

Baton Rouge Rocks showed it's limitations early on due to everybody on that site already playing in a committed band, and juggling a job, school, girlfriends, and due to most of them being heavy metal, hard rock, and indie rock music lovers as opposed to having an apprecation for good pop and soft rock from various decades.

Posting a printed version of my ad at Guitar Center sounded cool at first, but I ran into a few problems. The main being not having an easy way to know if the ad was still up, and whether the audience I was trying to reach frequented the place. That's good to know of BEFOREHAND.

That's why I like to talk to people who have similar music tastes, and who have similar goals to mine before trying something before I get in over my head.

Most of the people who share your tastes are 12 year old girls ... or else just some guys who would stoop to anything to be famous.

You might have better luck in your quest if you moved to China
