In order to find the keyboard player buddy I'm looking for, I need to discover some more pop and soft rock musician communities both online and in person. It would be cool to discover one that includes both. Posting ads alone is not cutting it. And the places that were reccommended to me through Baton Rouge Rocks end up having an audience of individuals who are already out there playing music in a band, and who want to make money playing music, rather than your more conservative college student taking a few classes, who's looking for a buddy who shares his passion for playing a variety of pop and soft rock songs.

You wonder why I turn a lot of suggestions down? It's because not enough thought was put into it. It's either reccommended as a joke, the person thinks I want to get out and form a band, and play, or the person just throws out the most unorthodox place to try that attracts people besides musicians, and where it would be extremely difficult to pick out which ones are because of the way the website works, or what the place is used for.

For example, I would much rather check out an Open Mic at a local coffee shop, or at a respectable bar or club, or join an intimate pop and soft rock musicians group, as opposed to trying a random thing like a bus station, or checking out Wal-Mart.

No! I will not! You guys turn EVERYTHING I say into a joke, and don't put a whole lot of thought into your reccommendations.

I know the baiscs of where I need to go, but not the specifics. There has got to be a few people on here who I can discuss this with. Individuals who are not so easily aggravated, and who are much more patient with me, and not so prone to trolling. Individuals who will actually work with me to help me discover some more music communicities online that are more appropriate for what I'm searching for. A place where I can get back in the loop with what's going on in the local pop and soft rock scene in Baton Rouge, if that even exists.

Again! What is the deal with all of these trollish pictures? And what is the deal with people picking only ONE of my favorite artists, and focusing on all the tabloid junk, rather than his music? Whether it's Adam Lambert, Michael Jackson, Madonna, and many others.

Why can't you guys focus on what's important, and pay attention to some of the hints I give regarding how you can best help me. I've stated it over and over, and still it goes over your heads. You say I'm the one that refuses to listen. I believe it's the other way around.

Who is the "King of Pop"?

I hate how we've put these people on thrones. I find it funny though how there are many "pop queens" but only one "king".

I don't know what you are trying to prove by that, but it's REALLy annoying. I hate how my posts always seems to reach a bunch of people who want to waste their time messing with ONE person, but who are usually nice to everyone else on the forum, and give quality advice and feedback.

Heck, this kind of thing happened when someone responded to my Guitar Center ad, and he was telling me where I should go to find a keyboard player who loves to play a wide variety of pop and soft rock music. Instead of reccommending a good local community, he reccommended I go to Wal-Mart. I tell him that that isn't the best option because most people go there to shop, and then he decides to tell me that that's not so.

Why do I always reach people who just want to waste time making stupid jokes, or who are themselves clueless?

This is Madonna ... you are asking where to find other fans of this?

Clifford - there is NO ONE here who can help you with what you are asking. It doesn't matter how many times you ask. There is no one else on these forums from your area. There is no one else on these forums in your age group. There is no one else on these forums who is "into" your tastes in music. There is no one here who is "looking for another guy around my age to develope a long-lasting friendship with ..."

You wonder why you get trolled and laughed at? Read what you wrote: "I'm looking for another guy around my age to develope a long-lasting friendship with ..." This is a place for musicians to connect musically. If friendship develops over time because of the musical connection, that's a plus, but not what this place is about.

Stop focusing on TABLOID stuff and the artist's image. Focus on the music. That's the key.

And stop picking only ONE of the artists I like. The key to this is variety and nostalgia. The music I grew up hearing on the radio when I was a kid.

This also includes the boy band/teen pop era of the 90s, and the American Idol artists as well.

I'm looking for someone with talent. Not some hack who just dabbles in music. I want to find someone who is not already playing in a committed band or working as a musician so he doesn't have to quit that particular thing.

The guy doesn't have to be within my area. And the reason why no one has shown up is because you guys respond to everything, and don't give a chance for any of the less active members to chime in.

Also what is it with people of any age taking this place so literally? What is wrong with wanting to develope a friendship first, one that's based on a wider variety of common interests, rather than JUST music?

And what is with people on here assuming I'm looking for a dude who dabbles in music when I am in fact looking for a guy who is talented, and a little bit more advanced than me, and plays keyboard, but does electronic based mixing and recording, as opposed to live performances and forming bands.

Sorry! But again, remember, it's about the music of any of my favorite artists.

People not in your area are not going to be able to help you IN YOUR AREA like you are asking for.
"Less active members"?? Who are they? Either people are here, or they're not.
How many times do we have to tell you - this is not a place to 'make friends' first - it's a place for musicians to discuss music things (and a wide variety of political BS from some).

I should also point out that at one point, a lot of the guys who are messing with me and trolling me and giving me the third degree about everything, WERE on the right track with some of their suggestions, but be more specfic, and give some pointers on how to effectively use the given suggestion to make the most out of it.
