Mike T I totally agree! Nonsense lyrics may work (occasionally), but lyrics that have meaning always work better. I too almost always start with words and build music around them.

Even in our heaviest sets we strive to keep the lyrics out front.

For us the message is all important. The music is the medium of our preference to carry that message.

How many of you have noticed over the years that it's the medium (music) that is most often the immediate "hook".

But it's the lyrical content that seeps in over time like so much rain on the hard dry earth.

Songs I did not originally like, I now enjoy.
Others that were instant hits with me, now I'm like "why the hell am I listening to this drivel" ?

And it's the lyrics that make the difference.
