No way, no how, no McCain, he is a scumbag.

Either you have just trashed my respect for you as a thoughtful 19 year old, mature beyond your years. Or you are merely ignorant. I sincerely hope it is the latter.

John McCain is a national hero.

If you have ever heard the name "Hanoi Hilton" then you are familiar with one of the most brutal prisoner of war camps in Vietnam. Let me assume, that when you see McCain on TV, and have likely noticed that his arms move funny, you are not aware of why that is. Allow me to tell you why.

John McCain, a tough military man, whose father and grandfather were BOTH Admirals in the Navy, nevertheless, now, cannot raise his arms above his head. This is a direct result of the 3 times per week beatings he received as a prisoner of war for 5 1/2 years (Yes, Five and a half YEARS!!!).

It would be remarkable enough, that he had endured a concentration camp with 3 times weekly torture and beatings, for FIVE AND A HALF YEARS, were it not for the HONORABLE and ADMIRABLE fact, that he could have been released from the Vietnamese prison after not much more than 6 months.

When the Vietnamese government learned that McCain's father was an admiral, they offered McCain early release from prison, as a propaganda ploy of their "generosity" and "good will" and likely as a ploy to prove to other prisoners of war that in America, the sons of priveledge get preferential treatment.

There was one problem.

John McCain would NOT accept early release. He refused early release because of an American military "code of conduct" that states "First in - First out" Meaning that those who were prisoners before you, should be first in line to get out.

Following that code, out of his principles, meant that John McCain endured 3-times weekly beatings for FIVE MORE YEARS. All because he is a man of principle.

That adds up to 780 torture sessions that John McCain endured, on principle alone. How would you like to be tortured 780 times, when you didn't need to be? I think YOU would jump at the chance for early release, and to hell with principle! I say that because, even though no American youth has been called up by a draft in nearly 25 years, you are so afraid of one, that you are voting solely on who best will guarantee that for you personally.

John McCain is a man who OVER and OVER and OVER for FIVE YEARS refused to stop being beaten and tortured 3 times EVERY week, simply because it was WRONG to him, MORALLY, that he would get out of prison BEFORE another American who had been there longer. Him leaving early, means he takes another American's rightful place to leave before him. He never allowed another American to receive those beatings in his place. He took every one they dished out for FIVE AND A HALF YEARS!!!!

Would you do that?

I'm a tough man, who has a very strong set of principles. And in all honesty, I don't know if I could do it.

Until you can fill the shoes of a man like John McCain, and have served your country with even a fraction of the honor that he has served her with, please refrain from disrespecting a true American hero.

I am afraid I have just trashed your respect for me then, lol. I mean no disrespect towards you Craig, but my beliefs about the man are entirely different. I did not know he exactly went through what you said, but I did know he went through something because he was a POW.

Actually, since he was a POW you would think he would be against war in its entirety, but then again, he is not.

No, I would not want to do what he did, sacrificing himself for that long, but that is not my mentality. But I will tell you what, I would do it if it were for people I love. Then I would step the plate and let them do whatever it may be to me, I would take it because of my loved ones.

McCain is a smart man, he is not imbecile. I can tell he has a brain in there, my problem is I do not agree with his policy. I am not going to stand by and elect someone else who could put us in another war at the cost of 10,000 - 50,000 more injuries or deaths. We need no more dead people in this country, no more. We have died enough at the hands of those savage terrorists over there. They are slaughtering us by the dozens. Our boys need to come home, if I had a brother over there, I would be screaming right now.

With all due respect Craig, do not peg me as being unpatriotic. I would step up to the plate to defend my family at any cost if the war was a real threat to them in my eyes. People here are naive, we think that just because we are attacking them over there we are keeping them at bay, well let me explain something to all of the people who think that: No we are not any safer, this war on terror is bull. You can fight them till you are deaf, dumb, and blind, and I guarantee they will get in here somehow anyways.

You guys all use the internet, so you must know of hackers. These people are arming themselves in hacking now, they are becoming so good that they can now attack our electric power grids and shut them down. Imagine if they did that to a nuclear power plant? Found a way to infiltrate its network and shut it down. The real war is in America, it is not out of it at this moment. We have to arm ourselves with stronger minds that are well educated to fight it, the threat now comes from the digital world. The attacks within our borders need to be handled by FBI, CIA, NSA, DOE, Homeland Security, and so on and so forth.

In order to have stronger minds, we need to stop getting them killed in Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, and all of these damn countries, and bring them back here and put them through college.

The fight is on the grounds here, it is not over there. So it is time to bring our boys back.

McCain will do nothing but draft, draft, draft! Oh wow, that is going to help us. Well let's see, I will be dead, all of my friends will be dead, but, Hell, at least we died for our country! In a war that is not necessary! (Intense sarcasm)

Craig, all I am saying is this is useless, we do not need to die anymore for any one of these war mongering leaders. It is time for a change and apparently it is only going to come from the Democrats this year - and who knows, maybe they will even screw it up, but I will take my chances with them before McCain.

My grandfather served in the Coast Guard, his friends died in the Korean war. He told me stories of how they were knocking at the doors of the mothers and telling them their children were dead. So he has seen a lot in his life. His uncle served and died in World War I, his other two uncles were both veterans of the Coast Guard, and one was a Field Doctor. So in this family we know about patriotism. He himself has said to me, "No McCain, there will be a draft, and another war, and more of our boys will die."

I have a draft card, in my wallet. I got it automatically when I turned 18. I am registered, they can draft me anytime they want.

McCain will only bring a nuclear holocaust upon us, as he will follow where Bush left off.

So this is nothing against you personally, I have the utmost respect for you. You are an intelligent and logical individual, but I do not agree with you on this subject.

No offense or harm meant.

Peace out, GuitarAnatomy.

I guess my date with McCain to play handball is a fake? lol

(easy folks, just injecting some levity into this)

But seriously, the only reason I might be con McCain would be that he supports the war and I think it would be wise to get the hell out of the middle east before they start nuking each other.

Condoleeza Rice is one smart cookie. She'd probably make a great president, but she made it quite clear that she doesn't want the position.
I'd vote for her in a second, regardless of politics.
.
I would Never vote for Hillary, (again, regardless of politics), because she will say or do whatever she has to, just to get into a position of power and authority. I don't believe that she cares half as much about the good of our country as she cares about being in a position where everyone has to kiss her ass. I certainly wouldn't buy a used car from her . . .
Hilliary is the most power-hungry of the candidates. (hmmm . . . kind of like a "Guitar-God," huh? A real prima-dona . . .
Obama isn't so bad, but I don't think I want him in charge when the Golden Gate bridge is blown up, or when 100lbs of highly radioactive material is dumped off the top of the Empire State building, killing hundreds of thousands of people over the next several years . . . myself, my wife, and my entire family included, as we are all down wind . . .
McCain seems ok, seems like a man of principles . . .
And the rest? I can't say much - I'd have to do my own research - the press only presents the side of the story they want you to believe, not the whole, unbiased truth.
When the field is narrowed down, I'll do my own research. I no longer trust CNN, ABC, NBC, and most of the others.
Last fall, the major networks got together and did an unbiased survey, examing hundreds of news 'stories' for political bias. They were looking to see if reporters were putting Democrats or Republics intentionally in a bad light.
They were dismayed with ther OWN findings. Here's what the found:
It turns out that most journalists are Democrats.
And, being human, they want other people to vote the same way as them.
The Major networks found that the Major Networks (themselves) were continualy slanting their own news stories against Republicans, and for Democrats. For whatever reason . . .
.
Remember, these people were doing their own study on themselves.
.
They found that their reporters, mostly Democrats themselves, were by careful choice of words, continually attacking the Republiccans, while trying to make the Democrats look like saviours.
.
The actually figure was an 82% slanted bias towards Democrats.
.
This amounts to a steady diet of EDITORIALS being presented as news.
mmm . . . kind of like propaganda . . . kind of like lies . . .
.
"Oh, but it MUST be true - I heard it on the news!"
HA! Yeah, right . . .
.
The news organizations also found that there were some Republicans who were able to make it onto the news teams.
But the republican reporters had a tendency to get FIRED if they spoke up . . . .
The small percentage of republicans on staff could only keep their jobs if they kept their mouths shut . . . according to an NBC news anchor . . .
The reasons for their firings were never given as politics, but it's easy fo find an excuse to fire somone . . .
.
So, ok . . .
Before you attack me for what is evidently an unpopular viewpoint here, remember that it was the very news organizations that were GUILTY of the slanted liberal bias who REPORTED it.
I originally found the info buried on several of their web sites. . . . not something one wants to admit . . . .
.
I believe it was channel 4 (NBC) who actually had the guts to admit 82% Liberal bias on the TV news . . . and then the story disappeared, - forever . . .
.
The politics of a 'news' organizations is chosen by the owner of the news organization, who uses an anchor with the same politics to present the news. This is a fact, and it is human nature . . .
.
.
Craig, I think you made some great points.
This is the spot where the other side tries to make fun of you (and now: me), and you know it. I've got to respect a man who'll stand up for what he believes is right, in the face of overwhelming opposition.
.
Ok, one last thing.
I've tried to avoid talking about the 2 subjects which will ALWAYS cause hard feelings: religion, and politics.
.
No one can win an argument on either religion, and politics, because most people have a strong opinion about these 2 subjects.
.
.
Seeing as each side disagrees, and the other side won't see your own side, everyone winds up frustrated.
The frustration soon becomes anger.
Then the anger turns the direction of the discussion to "How come you're so STUPID that you won't AGREE with me!?"
:)
Hey, c'mon - you know it's true . . .
:)
.
I understand that, on the internet, it's easy to take things the wrong way.
Almost every one of us (myself included) has at one time or another gotten angry at someone, only to later learn that we mis-understood the other's true meaning.
.
So - here's my true meanings/feelings behind my words:
I consider you guys to be my friends (or at least friendly associates).
I'd like to be able to meet you guys, shake hands, play music, get 'drunk and stupid' together, or just drink coffee and shoot the breeze . . .
OK, 'nuff said . . .

RhythmMan, I was fascinated by what you wrote. I still refuse to support McCain, although there are some things he sticks to (But not all, he tends to sway on many issues, the only thing he is very firm on is the military action, which gets annoying because, like Obama, no one knows where he stands on any other subject).

There is an apparent biased on the news stations. I never knew they took a poll like you were saying, that is fascinating. Here is the break down:

MSNBC - Pure democrat, like one Republican on the entire network (I think it is Tucker Carlson).

CNN - Independent, way more democrats though than Republicans. Their reporters seem to be rather picky and odd, that is why I say Independent.

FOX News - Pure Republican, any time a Democrat breathes they are executed on the spot. They always get the interviews with Bush and Cheney, which makes it apparent they are Republican (Because those two barely go on any other network). I once heard that someone said Cheney rented a hotel room and requested that the only channel he would want on is FOX, period.

ABC - I think they are down the road, but more so leaning towards Democrat than anything.

So yeah, there is an intense biased amongst these agencies. It gets annoying.

I used to like MSNBC because it was that way, now I hate it. I cannot stand the biased reporters, I like more objective view points.

The only reporter I have any respect left for is Tim Russert, period.

Yeah, at the end of the day, we are all friends and none of this crap matters.

I agree, I would rather we all sit down in real life and just drink coffee, alcohol, eat something, and just talk and play music. Afterall, we are musicians, right?

Peace out, GuitarAnatomy.

Condie Reich is one of the biggest inveterate liars in the Bush admin. To sit day after day and watch her blink at questions regarding her actions prior to 9/11, having been PERSONALLY handed reports that could have prevented much of the devistation of that day; and first she denies getting them (false, she got them) - THEN she shrugs and says "well I don't read reports"

Hey...CONDIE...part of your JOB is to read reports you hag!

Also, she claims to be fluent in Russian, and when she found herself as a guest at a Moscow radio station, the interviewer decided he'd engage her a bit in his native tongue and all she could do was stammer "Da! Da!" ("yes, yes"). What a phoney.

As far as McCain goes, I share your views on him, GA. I know a few Vietnam vets who were held by the VC..and THEY do not refer to Vietnamese people today as "Gooks" like Senator McCain does. Screw him and screw his bigot attitude. I hope he goes down like a lead balloon in the general election.

Oh thank God, someone who agrees with me! I thought I was stranded all alone on this anti-McCain island for a second there, lol.

As for Condoleezza, bleh, bleh, and bleh. I have no real words for her, I do not know anything of what she is capable of. She just is useless in my book, just sits there. So I really cannot personally judge her, I have never even seen any of her true views, lol.

She just reminds me of an extra button on a shirt, she is just there in case another one pops. My point is, she is basically useless at the moment. Nothing she did over in the Middle East worked, but who knows, I do not think anyone can change anything at this moment over there with words.

I really have no disdain for her, but at the same time I really do not have much love for her. She is just a nothing in my eyes.

Feigns shock!

I don't want to feel like I'm helping you pop your cherry or anything, but gee Irminsul, you weren't aware that subordinates generally aren't in a hurry to throw their bosses to the wolves, considering their boss is the one that hired them? No one had EVER in the history of this country, hijacked a plane with the intent on using it as a weapon. There is NO precedent for that. Hijacking I believe, was listed as a potential option for terrorists, but this is not a new threat. I don't recall anything about that report saying they would use them as missiles (correct me if I am wrong). Traditionally, if successful, hijackings end in some demand to fly the terrorist to another country, and almost always, the victims of such attacks are returned safely. Again, there is NO precedent for something like this.

And I believe that she never said she didn't read the report at all, as you are claiming, but that she said she did not read the full 90 pages of that report. I am quite sure that she NEVER said anything like "I don't read reports" ... what flakey extremist left organization are you quoting that jewel from? (yes, then she must be guilty of at least gross negligence... let me save you the trouble of that response)

You're being a little, hell, ALOT over the top here.

Her political career has been almost devoid of controversy, unlike many others formerly in her position. Other than the issue you bring up, the biggest charges leveled against her , seem to be that she isn't black enough according to many black leaders.

To which she has publicly responded:

"Why would I worry about something like that? (charges of not being black enough)... The fact of the matter is I've been black all my life. Nobody needs to tell me how to be black."

That's the one issue I have with you. Otherwise intelligent debates with you, dissolve occassionally, because you are literally BLINDED by your emotional, often irrational, political bias. The only thing other than politics I have witnessed an irrational obession with you, is your hatred of Musik Mage. I can't tell which you hate more. Him or Bush. (It's Bush, I know, never mind. LOL)

Rhythm man was right about the political bias, almost always left leaning, in the media, which has helped stir the general population into an irrational hatred of a single individual "President Bush" and by default, Republicans in general, which is unfortunate.

Bush should NEVER have become president, simply because he is, easily, one of the least qualified individuals to hold that office. His lack of knowledge and intelligence is obvious, compared with any number of more qualified and brighter minds that could have been put in that office, the most important position in the world. But, not just because of the money and influence of his father and his father's friends, but also in part because of the help of special interests, that's the kind of president we got. This is EXACTLY the reason I wanted McCain as president back before Bush's cronies STOLE the nomination from him. McCain pledged to do something about this very issue.

I will say one thing for Bush, which he NEVER gets the credit for, and which he deserves the credit for, especially if he is going to be personally blamed for every ill that occurs in this nation is this....

We have NOT had a terrorist attack on our soil since 9-11

If you are going to blame him for EVERY SINGLE PROBLEM under the sun, WHEN will you give him credit for that fact?

See? I don't lose sleep over the fact that power and money bought the Whitehouse. It has almost always, in modern times, been that way. That is the unfortunate nature of the beast. I'm not naive. I know how it works.

In the immortal words of Ronnie Van Zant "Watergate does not bother me, does your conscience bother you?"

Some of the finest "red-neck" lyrics ever written and far more intelligent and meaningful than the "brighter" liberal minds seem to realize, because what it is saying is really:

Are you surprised how corrupt higher positions of power are? Why? It has always been that way. Don't be so naive. And why are you so full of self-righteous anger over it? Maybe you have some skeletons in your own closet, and that is the real source of your anger? Always easier to judge everyone elses sins than see our own isn't it?

One simple sentence. One small line of lyrics. And yes, it really says all that!

Jesus brilliance when the adulterous woman was brought to him to judge was "Let he who is without sin, throw the first stone."

This was brilliant because, had he said "Stone her" which was the law, then his message of forgiveness was lost. On the other hand, had he said "Let her go" then he would have been accused of NOT following the law. They intended, as they often did, to try and trick him. His response was not "yes" or "no" outright, so they could not trap him. He accomplished what he wanted (letting the woman go) while removing any chance of them trapping him, by leaving the decision in THEIR hands, but with only one possible outcome "Let he who is without sin throw the first stone". Any man throwing that stone, would then be claiming to be sinless. So they presented a seemingly impossible situation to Jesus, and brilliantly, he responded by giving them a TRULY impossible situation right back! Turned the tables on them brilliantly, without batting an eye.

I admire brilliance, whether it comes from a good old Southern Rock lyric, or whether it comes from God himself.

Blind hatred is not brilliance.

And brilliance is something that I know YOU ARE capable of.

Just like love; hatred is also blind . . .
I too, saw numerous inaccuracies being thrown out off-handly as 'facts,' and I was considering correcting them, myself.
There are still several things left uncorrected in many statements here , and I thank you for taking the time to point out several of them.
But, sorry, guy, I'm outta here.

Hey guys long time no see. I see were still at it . well ok heres my beef. If the Veats wanted to release Mcain he would have had no choice.
Great ploy but since when did a POW have a choice about anything?
Mcain does not support the constatution. He has been involved in legelation to deny First amendment rights. Mcain wont close our boarders or stop the flow of drugs or stop the rape & murder being done to Texas New Mexico, Arizona and California residents by Mexican bandits coming across our boarder. He wont do anything to stop Illegal aliens for voting in our elections or using our emergency rooms for free health care.
He wont do anything about the ILLEGAL aliens, Like the one who sans license or insurance ran a stop sign totaled my wife's Trailblazer, and stumled off drunk scott free.( If my wife had been killed I would be talkin to you guys from prison.) I am not a racest and I believe strongly in LEGAL IMIGRATION the way my family got here. But ILLEGAL ALIENS are stealling us blind. I could go on and on Mcain is not a hero in my book.
