After searching through the local musicians within my area, I realized that not too many ppl seem to have heard of this band, or perhaps I'm the only guy who likes em hehe. So I'm just curious as to who all likes The Dillinger Escape Plan....or even any bands similar to them.

Well, I am definately not in your area... but the dillinger escape plan was strongly influenced by Meshuggah, so you should check them out. I have no familiarity with their music (except for their song on an Underworld soundtrack I pilfered from the library) but I was curious about them and looked them up. Mathcore? I had no idea that was even a musical subgenre.... sounds interesting though. PhrAiLGuitarist seems to know a lot on this subject so talk to him.

I think all Mike Patton bands rock! I myself am a little more partial to Mr. Bungle and Tomahawk.
Did you hear Mike Patton's rant about WolfMother?
I just got done setting fire to his "music".

Dillinger Escape Plan.
Calculating Infinity is raw, quick, and mashes all time signatures together in no less than a half-hour. This is with the original singer, and I'm not too fond on his as oppesed to the most recent singer (from studio album Miss Machine onwards)
Miss Machine is one of the best albums in my collection. It's brutal attack on everything that you thought you knew about avant-garde and metal in one gives a whole new light to both genres. Plauged with obscure time signatures, tempo changes and quick guitar riffs, alongside one of the most enigmatic and violent voices of todays general metal catagories, this album showcases their finest matieral. First class examples being Highway Robbery, Panasonic Youth and Baby's First Coffin Nail. They also seem to mellow out in some songs, with tracks such as Crutch Field Tongs, Unretrofied, and Setting Fire To Sleeping Giants (being their only major release single).
As for their most recent release, Ire Works, the entire album seems to be a mellowed out, the-guitarist-left-us-for-Coheed&Cambria-so-we're-gonna-play-like-them-for-no-apparent-reason, soppy flop. It's not worth the money you buy, the plastic it's printed on, or the paper used in the booklets which have just wasted more trees. Avoid this album.
Buy Miss Machine and their 3-track EP 'Under The Running Board' (with original vocalist Dimitri Minakakis).
Songs to listen to: 43% Burnt, *#.., Abe The Cop, Panasonic Youth, Van Damsel, Setting Fire To Sleeping Giants.
