Planet Guy ... I thank you for your Post. It is very interesting indeed ... as you say. At one end is PaperDog and at the other perhaps yourself and I am somewhere in between. Very well stated Planet Guy. Let us hope that any newcomers may benefit from all this.

Planetguy wrote:well, one thing i'm sure we CAN all agree upon....isn't it interesting, dare i say fascinating... how given the same set of facts/evidence/circumstances/input/whatever.....we all can come away w such different takes on things and on people?

of course what WE bring to the party...our own 'filters', dna, and our own "baggage" is as much a part of our takeaway as anything else...but still, very, very interesting methinks.

You mean Like admiring those who post music on their own terms... That's nice if said music is actually posted.

When I first joined BM , I had nothing but a few 'song ideas'...and whatever else (Baggage, Luggage< etc) I brought to the table.

I posted my song ideas on my terms... :) But the most important thing was that I posted my songs.

Now, dont get me wrong... I dont fret over anybody , who chooses to not post a song. In the case of Vinny, I just happen to observe (and suspect) that he is outright shy about posting his work. I can understand that, because frankly I feel the same way about mine I am intimidated by most everybody elses music here....I just try not to show it ) In summary, I posted anyway, cause at the end of the day I really have no reason not to. But you wont catch me blowing smoke up anybody's ass about it...
So I say to Vinny and all others, get past the fear and just do it.

Vamp,

A friend of mine comes over to watch movies occasionally. The other night we watched Star Wars. When it came to the garbage chute scene I told him that I knew the guy that played one of the Storm Troopers. He asked which one. I pointed you out to him. ( Naturally I just motioned to one of them)

I told him that you were a cyber friend of mine.

Then when we got to the entrance of the Falcon scene, I said There he is again.

He looked at me funny and said. "How can you tell it is him, they all look alike to me."

I replied, "Your probably one of those guys that think colored folks all look alike too aren't you?

I mentioned that you also were a Starship Captain in The Empire Strikes Back. :)

Maybe we'll watch that one again one of these times. He never has been one to sit down and watch movies so they are all new to him.

Nice way to dismiss another's point of view... But that's only how 'I' see it. Sorry Mark, but that brand of existentialism is completely 1960's and very self centered.

(Tip:
If you see a red light, might wanna just stay put, that is ,
unless you're turning right, or moving on by foot.
God forbid a passer-by..should trip and go kaput
cause He's incline to die there if what you 'see' is law suit.

grant, i'm sorry you MISINTERPRETED that as "dismissing your point of view".

that's not what i was doing, but i see how you might choose to see it as such.

ironically, you taking it that way does go to the point i (and bruce cockburn) are trying to make... it's all in the interpretation and "the way that you see".

So you paid 600 bucks for some 'Heaven's Gate' Nikes...Interesting...

As for the other posts... I wouldn't know anything about it...

I think you are trying to rip me off on this deal here, Paperdog. I had these nikes you sent appraised by an expert at great expense, and found out they are FAKES! :( ... still some sour grapes over the "gerbil" track?

That's ok though, I step my best outside the box anyway.

.... Planet Guy ... Vinny ... PaperDog ... I thank you all for Posting and expressing yourselves so well with your Posts. Planet Guy I have always found you somewhat irksome at times but you are what you are and do not pretend to be something else ... I respect this.

Vinny ... you are no doubt an odd fish or possibly "chameleon" ... your latest Posts re "Nike" I personally found hysterically funny ... I thank you.

PaperDog ... regarding this latest "flurry" of posts re posting music and Vinny ... I find myself not in fact exactly "in the middle" but closer to you in this matter. You stated your veiw very clearly and I agree.

Slacker ... who would have ever thought that one day after we grew up that we would become "cyberfriends" ? I loved your Post and what you stated to your friend. You can in fact see me clearly in the Empire Strikes Back even though I am a "hologram". I am standing with other Captain's as holograms before Darth Vader. These uniforms were "very WWII Japanese" I felt ... especially the hats ... the Germans had the best uniforms in my opinion ... of course WWII was much more than a Fashion Show.

"Some have despaired ...

ReAwakening to a nightmare

There is something in the wind

Don't you slip away

like the others looking for release

At times my poems are but exiled screams in the desert. I have discovered that by living in places where I am "out of place" that I am in fact free."

We were lucky WW2 wasn't a fashion show! The Germans would have won hands down.

I think the snappy uniforms help - a friend of mine volunteers with a local PD and he said when he puts tac suit on - it feels 'different, better!' 8)

I experienced this when I was posted to an armored unit. When we put on our black jump suits and leather jackets we felt like bonafide bad asses...not a bad way for soldiers to feel.

Yet while this uniform / psych thing gave the Germans a slight edge we still won! And their cool uniforms and gear are now sold and bartered among the progeny of the victors.

I read that in Eastern Europe some very sick people have been actually digging up wartime burial sites to get the collectibles. I don't think I'd want to spend a lot of time with guys like that...

____ ________ Order ....PaperDog ... I thank you for your Post. He looks different without the "Rug". Your pic reminds me of the "Cantina Scene" in Star Wars.

Talbot ... Thank you very much for your interesting Post. What you have related is an excellent comment upon the current "dressing up" of the police as they continue to be militarized ... sunglasses and bald heads ... many need utility belt girdles ... and perhaps a lolly pop ? The world is on the verge of "blowing out" I feel.

My Wife teaches 5 to 6 year olds and just this morning showed me some music videos her "kids" are all playing and dancing to now "for fun" and often with their parents full "consent". I urge everyone to check out the videos and the lyrics as well on Y-Tube. If you do I would like very much to hear what you think.

Kesha ....Die Young

Macklemore ....Thrift Store

Britney Spears ... Scream and SAhout

Also for very different reasons check out Black Sabbath's "God is Dead". The video and music and lyrics are excellent I feel ... a pleasant surprise. Bowie's "Next Day" single and video is on the other hand ... for me disappointing. I expected something more after a decade of silence and "work" and "development" ... from him. But ....

Well I am interested to hear what others may think about these as well... with regard to what is now at this moment transpiring. Pyramids ...Triangles ... eyes ... horns ... and the usual.

Glen seems to be absent. I hope all is well with him.

"All lies on us"

It was revealed a few years ago by a former CIA agent, that the swift rise within the art world of American abstract expressionism was secretly funded by the CIA. In the 1950's, the agency covertly channeled money to influential figures to include the 'American abstract' works in prestigious European art showings. The idea was to make the 'Soviet realism' appear stodgy and stifling while advancing Americans status to the forefront of the "art establishment" over Europeans for the first time.

He points out that the agency did not create the art, but found it useful. Many of these artists detested the CIA and would never have knowingly participated.

So if this little adjustment to culture was considered somewhat successful, would they have stopped there? Would they have not noticed the impact and influence of Elvis, the Beatles? of Rock and Roll? Television? And leave that unexploited? To be behind the wheel driving youthful rebellion? Would MI5/6 be very far behind in similar efforts?

The extreme and shrill denial that often meets this suggestion, when presented to an average rock/pop etc. fan, insures that it would not be very difficult to keep secret.
