We executed our very first all original gig. Of course we knocked 'em dead, as always. Didn't know what was going to hit them. And they want us back. That's not the point of this thread. Lowell Premer, the guitarist/vocalist and song writer came out with a CD this year, or was it last year? Anyway, he's on Jango radio, slowly gaining a following. You can listen to all his tunes from his CD "Angel." Jango radio is an iternet radio station, www.jango.com, and you can go there and search for Lowell Premer and listen to his tunes which are all over the map if you want to "classify" his music. And we decided to call the band All Over the Map. I'm digressing as I sometimes do, but my point is this. I hae been diligently learning his tunes which are NOT easy, even learning the vocals on one (2GQ) which is an amazing tune, as most of his CD is amazing IMO. My point is this, and PAY ATTENTiON: If you decide to do original music, and one of your fellow bandmates has an original, LEARN IT, whether you LIkE IT OR NOT. Because I absolutely guarantee if you don't learn it, then when it comes time for you to introduce your original, guess who's not going to like it? Do your homework. Learn the tune(s). You might be very pleasantly surprised that making a fellow band member happy could wind up making you happy. And one more thing. Sometimes us musicians think we know which songs an audience will like. Well, guess what. We really don't know jack sh*t what an audience will like or not. Lay everything on them, ALL the originals. Learn ALL the originals. Please your band members. IT's the right thing to do.

Might as well do an original rather than a cover version of a song no one has ever heard of.
