Back in Texas... 8)

What Can I say? Chicago rocks! Now, I'm gonna share something that is gonna piss some of you guys off... But as a self respecting BluePoetSoul, I am compelled to explore with an open mind and deliver with an open heart, those credits in one part of the universe, to balance those debits in another part of the universe...(its what we do :)

Here Goes:

It is right, and appropriate for Obama to be our president of the United states. Until I saw for myself, the solar flare that resulted from his being in office, I could not understand the gravity and magnitude of importance in his role.

Now I see.

I met and talked with people, (who might have killed me 25 years ago) and came to discover on this trip, how staunchly they have become my brothers and sisters.

Never, in any American city, have I felt a more stress-free environment than I have in the Chicago proper. This, despite the tragic Illinois economy.

During my visit, I had to traverse through the famed 'south-side of Chicago', to get to a destination (a family grave-site).
As some of you may be aware, the south-side had a notorious reputation for being one of America's roughest Black ghettos.

As we drove through a significant portion of the area, what I saw was inspiring. Old renovated classic structured red /brown brick homes, pristine lawns, clean streets. Many Children walking to school, Adult men patrolling the traffic at the intersections of the schools. People seemed happy, They were courteous, folks looked healthy and in every manner of humanity, they thrived well in the south-side Chicago community. WOW!

As we drove further, we did spot a few rugged fringe streets, and sure enough, a few rugged gangsta types. They appeared to be edged out. They don't seem too popular

Downtown, on a city bus, there was an instance where I merely looked like I was in preponderance of my location, when another passenger (a Hispanic) offered a most useful set of instructions...I didn't even have to ask. There was kindness in the air.

The bottom line...I felt a profound sense of pride emanate from the local citizens...everywhere...Black, White, Brown. Christian, Buddhist, Muslim.

It has me believing that it is the result of electing the first black man in America. And let me say, my friends... If this was all that Obama could ever invoke, it is by far, still more than the last 8 presidents have accomplished.

Do I think Obama is a good financial leader? No. Do I think he is a master of frugality? Yes. Indeed, despite the severity of the economy, the pride of Chicago stands extremely tall. This, from a segment of people who suffered abject poverty. They have risen above it, with flying colors. It is my new opinion now, that Obama NEEDED to be the prez. After what I have witnessed, I'm really good with that assertion, now.

You guys will forgive if I cease and discontinue Obama bashing now. Because to bash him, would be to spit on the flower of humanity he has invoked. (I simply cannot express enough, how glorious this social evolution has become. )

I have seen it for myself now...
I hope many of you can believe me...

OK, here's a shocker to add to your "revelation". I have agreed with everything I've seen Obama doing in the last month, maybe two. It's like a different person is in his suit when it comes to Syria/Iran lately.

I have always thought that Obama would stab Israel in the back eventually, but he has been handling the Syria/Russia/Iran/Turkey/Eygpt situation extremely well recently. I especially like his resolve with Qutar.

I'm not going to trust him more than a day at a time, but as far as how this (next) war is being managed, I hope he continues the way he's going. It's most likely being run completely by the State Department, but Obama is showing some brilliance in negotiating with the Russians.

But Chicago??? Nah...I think it has more to do with Moody Bible college than Obama. There does seem to be a new attitude in Chicago than was there 4 years ago. I think it's a spiritual revival of sorts.

We always see faith growing where there is hardship and/or persecution.

I dunno Ted, Theres a lot about Chicago you might be unaware of. (Part of my family has a long history there). I didn't see anything related to a significant religious dogma (outside of the predominate Catholic churches and such) . I attribute this change of attitude entirely on Obama's incumbency.

You and I, being white...have a nasty habit of presumptuousness in the way we believe others think and feel. :) (Are you seeing the irony in my statement?). That said, we may or may not understand the value that many of the African Americans place on the sense of 'leverage and clout', knowing Obama is at the helm of what was once a 'white America'. Essentially, this is so golden for the culture...Its a chance to do right, be right, shine right without bigoted obstacles...This might be my lofty wishful thinking...but I'm sticking with it

I do remember a time, in New Orleans, when innocent folk were getting fire-hosed, simply for desiring to integrate with the country. Obama, becoming president, is a milestone of a change in Humanity...If I was a black man today.. words could not express how proud and exhilarated I might feel.

I believe I witnessed that tenfold over in Chicago. And I hope it stays like that. Its way too precious to throw away and dismiss.

Its that kind of thing that reminds me just how damn great America is. 8)

I agree with that, of course. And yes I am happy that milestone has been achieved, even if it only FINALLY proves that anyone can succeed in America.

But I also worry about the prospect of what is going to happen when Obama's Presidency fails, or if he gets impeached. Though there's a mountain of things he could be charged with (if there were any justice at the Justice Department), I don't put it past him or his DNC handlers to whip up racism flames purely to protect his political ambitions, and to hell with America.

in other words, that same pride in electing a black man can be turned into explosive racial anger if his term is in any danger of ending in a bad way.

Obama wont likely get impeached, since the entire regime is fouled up with a variety scandals... All the race cards have been played, and most folks are wise to it now... And finally, there just is no point at this stage to kick him out ... All damages are done... Change of guard due up anyhow.

I dont think he was ever suitable for the business side of America...But he was extremely important for its social side. And like i said, its a glorious day to see an entire culture stoked and happy. We needed this very much. Since there was no explosive racial anger levied on Black America when Obama was elected, I'm hard pressed to think there would be any of that on white America, if he were to get impeached. (Impeachment implies major law breaking. most good citizens understand the consequences.)
