This place shows promise, but it has one flaw that prevents me from reaching the desired musicians: I have to sign up for the premier membership in order to contact someone, and due to my goals and comparing to others people's goals on here, signing up for a premier membership isn't going to do anything for me.

And also unlike most other people here, I'm not looking for a band, but a solo dude who plays keyboard.

Can someone help me learn about other sites similar to this site where I can create a profile and post video(s) of my stuff up, and one that does have forums, but also one that's not aimed at musicians who are doing gigs and other professionals? Something that's aimed more at finding friends around the same age, but with a music angle?

I'd Google this myself, but what do you call this type of site?

And another thing that would be nice is instead of having something thrown out there randomly, is actually picking people's brains and learning about their experiences on various music sites, that way, I can find out if the site is right for me.

Why do I keep getting dickish responses like this whenever I ask a simple question? Take your time when you respond and don't get all flustered. Take a moment to compare where you are in your music goals to mine, and maybe look at your music tastes and see if they are similar and then go from there.

Also I'd like to stop hearing from the regulars that post here and here from some of the individuals here that are more reserved posters.

Would you like someone to count up how many times you have asked EXACTLY the same thing here?

Why do I always feel the need to repeat myself? I am not a troll. You are the one getting upset over nothing. My intentions are to learn and have intimate conversations with a wide variety of people. If you've already helped me and you couldn't find anything, please move on.

I am sorry if for those who are annoyed with seeing the same or similar questions being posted. That's because the person helping me was a dick in the first place, and wasn't considerate of whatever I was asking about.

I feel like I'm the one who's been running into trolls. Not just here, but on boards like Baton Rouge Rocks, and even Craigslist. Whenever I ask a question pertaining to learning about what else is out there in terms of music whether it's learning about local bands and solo artists in Baton Rouge that play pop and soft rock music, or learning about other music websites and message boards, or even asking for a simple how to on something, instead of reaching people who are respectful of one another, and who make smart choices in life, it reaches the direct opposite, and a lot of these people will have a snooty/stuck up attitude.

Also whenever I try a suggestion given by one of these "trolls", I usually end up in not having a clue as to what I've gotten myself into.

Now, don't get me wrong, I did expect to run into SOME of those people, but not at the rate I'm currently encountering them. It's ALL I ever see. And when those people aren't responding, my posts are ignored.

Now with that out of the way, is there anybody else here who I can talk to and learn about other good quality music sites similar to this place, but again, one that's not aimed at those forming a band or looking for gigs, but your average college student looking for a buddy to jam with?

These two sites are a mess:

www.batonrougerocks.com/ (it's supposed to be a music discussion and connection board, but it's now more of a site to disucss current events. It also doesn't help that the active members are people who are already playing in a band, and have plenty of music buddies already, and are all individuals who have full time jobs and families to take care of.)

http://batonrouge.craigslist.org/muc/ (if you review over most of the ads there, it's promotional stuff, and people looking for WORK. And not only that, but sometimes it's hard to tell which ones might be scams. It also doesn't help that Craigslist is more than just a music ad posting site.)

And also as you've just saw, on this site, people treat me like dirt for no real reason.

And here's another question: why is it when I posted a printed ad at Guitar Center, it would always reach someone who was a music producer, or someone who was already playing in a band, rather than someone who simply goes to college and might have some general friends to hang out with, but doesn't have any music buddies to play with, and just happens to play keyboard and likes and enjoys a wide variety of pop and soft rock.

Also here's another thing: back around 2010, and 2011, through some random person on Craigslist, I discovered a place where I could create my own forum. I eventually did, but I didn't have any FRESH new places to post for members. I was stuck advertising on places that were ALREADY duds and where people treated me like dirt.

Creating my own forum was reccommended several times by certain individuals on Baton Rouge Rocks, and I tried to tell those people that wasn't the best idea, but did they listen? NO! Why am I also running into people like that? People who reccommend something, and who don't listen to me when I have a legitimate reason for not following through on that suggestion, and instead, that person insists on me trying that suggestion to the point where I give the suggestion a try to prove him wrong, or the person starts acusing me of making excuses or some other crap?

I should also point out that when I created my new forum, instead of reaching guys around my age who have very eclectic music tastes, it reached individuals who were into only one or two artists, and they would have a very derpish attitude. For example, they would only be into alternative rock (Lifehouse and 3 Doors Down) as opposed to reaching people who are into say Lifehouse, Madonna, Adam Lambert, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Heart, Stevie Nicks, Fleetwood Mac, Kelly Clarkson, Owl City, and well, a wide variety).

I've also noticed that people aren't very personable online anymore, even on local sites. Proof of that can be seen in the Craigslist link. If you look at a lot of the adds, people don't introduce themselves like they used to, and don't even post phone numbers, but back in 2007 and 2008, there were a lot more laid back individuals on the site who DID post for buddies to jam with, and did introduce themselves, and who would provide a phone number.

Another thing that some people started doing to me on Craigslist, starting around 2009 but becoming increasingly common during 2010 and 2011 is creating a fake ad where they request a keyboard player and claim that they play pop and soft rock, only to not respond. They would usually not properly introduce themselves in the ad. Usually the ad would make fun of the fact how I'd talk about a certain artist I'm obsessed with, rather than the person listing a wide variety. It would usually be obvious that they were part of Baton Rouge Rocks.

Another thing I don't understand is why I would get responses to my ad from someone who claimed he was into a wide variety, and a talented guitar player, or singer or keyboard player, but when I agreed to invite him over, I would discover that he had to rely on reading chord charts, rather than having a good ear for music, and that he lied to me about his eclectic tastes, and would learn that he was only into alternative rock artists, thus prompting me to end the music relationship with the guy, but wanting to at least hold on to the general friendship, and find some other common activity to do, only for the guy to blow me off completely.

Again, with the dickish comments and the childish threats. I am 29 years old, not 5. Where are the people who are much smarter and know better than to stir up trouble like PaperDog and MikeGuitarB? Where are the people who will help me stand up to people like you? I mean, heck, look at your profile PaperDog, you are a total asshole on your profile.

Why do my posts always reach the trolls on a given message board, and never my intended audience? In other words, people with a likeable personality, people who are NOT easily annoyed, people who will acknowledge the various problems I've been having in my search. Someone who will actually listen to me and agree with me when I state that I don't or truly CANNOT carry out that person's suggestion.
