Kramer,
The Hatfields vs McCoys is a common but fundamental misunderstanding of the nature of radical Islam and jihad. I think most Americans still don't get it. Until we really understand this we cannot move forward. A study of the last 50 years in Lebanon is very instructive and this wind is now blowing our way.

This is the face of radical Islam around the world and they don't want to be our friends... ever. It's not about US involvement in the middle east, colonialism, or oil, it's about world conquest plain and simple and the end of Western freedom and democracy.

From Wiki:
"The Brotherhood's stated goal is to instill the Qur'an and Sunnah as the "sole reference point for ...ordering the life of the Muslim family, individual, community ... and state." The organization seeks to make Muslim countries become Islamic caliphates, which includes the isolation of women and non-Muslims from public life.[10] The movement is also known for engaging in political violence. They were responsible for creating Hamas, a U.S. designated terrorist organization, who grew to infamy for its suicide bombings of Israelis during the first and second intifada.[10] Muslim brotherhood members are suspected to have assasinated political opponents like Egyptian Prime Minister Mahmoud an-Nukrashi Pasha.[9][10][11]"

There are definitely a majority of peaceful moderate Muslims who embrace modernism in the US but their voice is currently silent. The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

My issue is why the non radicals (or moderates) , who clearly out number the radicals, aren't doing something to quell the radicals. Once Again, American (non muslums) have to go do all the dirty work...

I think change from within is the only realistic solution. This form of radical Islam has only been around for 100 yrs or so. As I understand it, the Qur'an is a living work unlike the Bible so it is possible that it will evolve again into a more peaceful interpretation, and violent radical jihadists will be squeezed out. Until then I expect more unprovoked attacks on innocents/(infidels) in the US and Europe.

In turn, 'they' can expect to get their mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, son, daughters... annhiliated. (And, we'll get their dog too!....)

Radical Islam and jihadism look to me like a form of collective madness not unlike the Catholic witch trials collective madness of the 17th century. It is my hope that wise heads will prevail and starve this jihadist movement from within.

Meanwhile here in the US we might want to stop feeding, housing and educating them on taxpayer dollars. Financial aid documents were released:

Not really, Dave.

The Marines were created by Thomas Jefferson because of Islamic "extremists" who were holding European nations hostage with piracy. Jefferson sent the Marines "to the shores of Tripoli" and kicked some ass.

That is ALL the Islamists understand.

And not sure why you think the Quran can be sanitized either. It says the world must submit to Islam, either peacefully or by violence.

In every nation where muslims are a minority, they are mostly docile with a few "radicals" or "extremists". The very moment they become the majority it's a different story.

This is a very real problem that is well illustrated in the history of Lebanon.

The Barbary Corsairs were Islamic pirates and slave traders who raided European towns and captured the young and fit, and killed everyone else. I suppose this was their brand of terrorism 400 years ago. Plenty of murdering to go around in those days between the Norse, Spanish, Corsairs, Normans, Cromwell and the Brits.

I do see a difference in the Corsairs goals with the Muslim Brotherhood and other recent radical jihadists. Lots of layers to this onion yet to be revealed.

Scott

Quit fussing about spelling. I didn't even know we had a spell checker until I upgraded to Win 8. Couldn't see it before.

Personally, unless I'm on my big screen at home I can't always see the screen that well (laptop blues).

Plus - many of us drink. Some drink a lot.

Starfish Scott wrote:Jeff why is it always an "us vs them" mentality?

Don't hate the game, hate the players.

It's not really a dem vs rep issue, it's an issue about how bad politics are in general.

The way you folks go on, you'd think the other side isn't even human and you know that's not true.

It's just like the fact that you can't condemn every muslim for what 1 person does. It's just unrealistic but hey, we all need someone to demonize, right?

Does it make it any better if we swap some words around and say..."Its our club vs their club" / "Our club has noticed that their club is trying to kill members of our club. Now we think their club should pay... so our club is going to kill ther club, before their club can kill our club...

If you have concerns Scotty, just have your people call my people... LOL!

you may as well be debating popcorn over pumpernickel... because if ANY of you knew what is really going on, you would realize that this thread is moot point...
and the thread title. you have no idea just how quaint it is

We "discuss" these things, not because we think anything will ever change, but only to vent our frustrations at 'it', or each other, or the whole damned mess we call planet earth.

Do not be so foolish as to underestimate how well informed a few of the posters on this site truly are. To even consider yourself more knowledgeable than all the rest is foolishness or at the least self aggrandizement or bravado.

Give your fellow posters some credit. :)

Who has the pumpernickel, btw?

I do prefer it over popcorn.

Let's debate....who likes popcorn more?
