I am not concerned at this point in trying to justify or convince those whom I deem "unconvincable" .... rather I focus upon encouraging and complimenting those of similiar ilk or who have made statements that I am in agreement with myself. I feel that the hour for general PR is well past. I try to point out that many who have differing opinions also have some issues of agreement.
Very soon everyone's most noble hopes will be forcibly replaced with the glaring Evil realities around us all. By todays educational standards I believe that you do in fact need more than a 1st graders education. In fact there are High School Graduates, College Students and graduates, MA's PHD's and BA's who do not sem to "understand". But I do get the point you make.
Fox news once conducted a very large study on how people react and draw conclusions based on facts presented. What they found was a huge loophole in critical thinking- and their conclusions were as shocking as they were correct.
What they learned was that if they fed you information and gave you their conclusion, that you would greet that conclusion with at least some level of skepticism and apply some critical thinking and potentially seek out more facts to arrive at your own conclusion. BUT..
If they gave you limited facts and led you to form your own conclusion, that you would not question your own conclusion, nor would you seek outside facts. They also discovered that people in general, once they form their own conclusions, tend to convert those conclusions to solid beliefs, and are unwilling to change those beliefs,
even when presented with evidence or facts that directly contradict previous facts that would change such a belief / conclusion
That was several years ago, and FNC and affiliates had immediately changed the way they deliver the 'news'.. they spoon feed their viewers cherry picked facts, and let the viewers draw their own conclusions, not realizing they were misled to that conclusion. To further the agendas, they would then have a "commentator" come on and spew the same conclusions, causing the viewer to feel intelligent and righteous simply because they believe that since they came to the same conclusions, that they are above agerage intelligence to be able to reach the same conclusions "the experts". It's a mindfvck of epic proportions, and nearly all TV news has adopted the same practice.
And let's then add in how they use raw emotions and partisanship to not only help you agree with their conclusions, but also pit us against each other.
I'm not trying to change anyones mind. I'm just trying to get people to wake up from their mental slumbers and think for themselves. The problem is with what I detailed above- they've been tricked into believing that their thoughts are their own. They aren't.
