I am a UK country singer, with little inspiration in the UK there are not many people to give true opinions on my music. I am headed over to Nashville later in the year for a few months but before I go I would like to do research on the music as much as I can. So anyone who likes to hear something new please Click the link below and have a listen, I would like feed back.

Rebecca that was sweet , but you better have more than that if you are headed to Nashville. Sorry you sound like a sweet young thing... you are going swimming with sharks. Just saying...

Well, Let me say the song is an outstanding arrangement... IT follows all the conventions of Country music... If you wrote this (words and music), I'd say you are musically ahead of the curve.

Now, for a candid assessment:

1) It falls short of the angle you need for mass appeal. This song was/is an excellent candidate for a third person narrative in the theme. Unfortunately, instead of creating a fictional character and story about a UK girl Gone country (or vice versa), you made it a song about 'you'... In a world of songs about 'self' (were so overrun by them) , its lost some luster for its potential listeners. The lesson here...Nobody gives a sh*t about 'you', 'me'... They want to be entertained , largely with invocation of adventures, colors and textures in their minds... Can you do that here?

2) I think Glenny is very correct about the portfolio/Nashville. They are happy to take anybody's money and in exchange for accommodating 'the dream'. ( Imagine a shoreline of hundreds of broken ships, crashed in the rocks. ) You should indeed bring a whole bevy of songs... There is of course, no guarentee of success , despite the efforts...

You are indeed a very talented young lady... keep going... but become aware of what the audience wants (or at least needs)...and dont let Nashville cloud your perspective...

Best wishes . . . today's music "industry" has nothing to do with talent.
Not musical "talent" anyways.

Nashville is a sewer.

Nashville can be a rough town. But if you want to play country music you are going to end up in Nashville at some point in time. Why not now?

One thing to remember when you go to the big towns (Nashville, LA , NY) is that you are playing in a different league. Everybody's good there. It's an eye opener.

The other thing to remember is that if you cut it there - you will cut it anywhere. Just bring your A-game.

Good luck

This is finally a person I can talk to 100%.

I can tell you this.
You have Country talent.
You have the look.
You do not have the writing.
You do not have the lyrics.
You have good recording engineer.
Not sure about producer due to inferior writing.

You will need proper contacts before traveling to Nashville.
You will need Hit Quality recordings in pocket.

More than anything I have said.
You will need to be willing to relocate to Nashville.
This more than anything is a must.
Nashville is a community and you must become a part of it to succeed.
Networking is essential and necessary and unavoidable if you are serious.

To become a Country Star you must dive in head first.
It is scary and life changing.
It takes BIG BALLS and the odds are enormously against you.
The competition for you there will be overwhelming and intimidating.

Good Luck

Miss McKain, I would look into performing at the Bluebird Cafe when you get to Nashville, I am going there this summer to perform my tune "Anytime Is Fine" just to get a reaction..

The song and sound is ok. I was a little bothered by the clarity on your vocals. Maybe your accent maybe the mic...?
As others have said in Nashville everyone can write play or sing and most do it very well. Should be a good experience for you. No matter what happens you're taking steps in the right direction. Hopefully you'll meet someone who can assist you.
Good Luck.

A couple of pitch issues here and there. A couple of moments of awkward phrasings. I can't understand much of your lyrics. That is critical in country. You have a decent voice. You definitely have potential.

All I can say is bring your A-Game, there are a lot of heavy hitters in Nashville.

If its what you want to do, go for it.

Hi Rebecca,
I listened to this yesterday. I have to say it was pretty decent, the look is good, the song is good, the idea on it was also very good, and I frankly liked your voice also.
The one thing that I picked up on that is perhaps, when you sing, you do not open your mouth properly, or that you are not facing the microphone properly? You sincerely have what it takes, really, I do believe this.
It's that one element that, I cannot fully hear what is truly a great song.

Power to you, do not give up, just listen very carefully to the song posted, and try and make out the words. Then alter the style when singing, you'll be fine.

Best to you.
Chippy

As others have said, there are tons of people looking to 'make it big' in Nashville. Be prepared - bring a big bank account, or you'll be waitressing (or worse) to make food money until you find a working band or a real paying situation.
