Never say never.
There is a real possibility he is our next president.
This is a fascinating election.
Sen. Clinton must be asking "Why the hell did this guy have to run in THIS damn election!!!!" LOL
She was the heir apparent for the Democrats for this election cycle. She now finds herself fighting for her life. The Democrats may fear that her negatives are too strong to be electable in the general election.
To their credit, some very important black leaders have united behind her, rather than Obama. It is encouraging to see black americans not necessarily feel they are "betraying" their race by selecting another candidate of a different race.
Sen. Clinton, for me, is an interesting case. I'm not sure she is as dishonest as her husband, but she is MORE ruthless. I find myself both hating and loving her. Well, I don't love her, but I have some admiration for her. I admire strong and secure women. And she is as tough as they come.
Obama is not completely unknown, he is just untested as president. And a time of war is not necessarily the best time to test him. He has had a political career devoid of scandals, but he is young politically. He had a best selling book. You would think that anything really bad in his past would have come out by now, but it may be those things are waiting for him being nominated by his party. Or it could be, that he doesn't really have any major negatives. You would think Clinton would have brought them up by now, if she knew of any. After all, she dragged out a slum-lord client he represented. If she would have used that, she would have used something worse if she had it.
Obama is clearly well spoken, intelligent and has a great demeaner, displaying clarity and confidence. I think he looks very presidential. But then, Bill Clinton was as cool as they come, and even he has gone off the deep end in front of reporters on occassion.
Obama is very charismatic, in an understated way. He just draws people in naturally. I think Sen. Clinton has her work cut out for her.
If a Democrat is elected, which for the sake of Iraqis and our own position in the world, I hope is NOT the case.... nevertheless, they may take strides toward universal health care. I used to be wholly opposed to that idea, but since my younger days, I have personally seen friends and even myself, make financial decisions over health. A friend for example, recently needed surgery very soon, but he opted to wait 3 months, so his deductible started over at the beginning of this year. It was a good economic decision, but not a good health decision. When we have to make decisions based on economics over our very health, then something is wrong. As my European friends would probably say "So, you don't like our free health care, because you may have to wait a little longer for treatment, or think it is not quite up to American standards? Well, a little lower standard health care, is far better to NO health care!"
