First, had a contact from someone through my BM profile  , supposed to meet with him this week, possibly at:
New open mic (for me) in Nashua Wednesday night - figure I need to keep trying different places, too easy to get complacent with the 'same old' places.

Next week (and 2 weeks after), the theme for the OM I've hit a few times is 'British Invasion', so I'm looking at adding a few new (for me) songs and reviving a few from my old lists, but not just keeping it to 1964-67 songs.

Ooh, "I Can See For Miles" acoustic? Very cool! We've played around with it occasionally, and "The Kids Are Alright". Loved the early Who.

keep with it Mike, it will sooner or later click.. S. Potts stopped around the house trying to get me playing again.. as I get older it gets harder to want to prove anything to anybody

Mike

Great selection -somehow those 'invasion' songs sparked a paradigm of short, popping love songs but flavored differently - the English thing. Those bands found their individual styles, and like early Who, made a thing happen. It was astonishing how everyone seemed to have a distinct sound.

Celluloid Hero's of course, is another whole ball game but a great one.

You missed "Needles and Pins" but Tom Petty picked up your slack.

I guess you'll need to figure out the right audience. YouTube has helped create one for you.

'Needles and Pins' - good one! I've also thought about Dave Clark 5 songs. Problem with a lot of these is they are all just 2 minutes long. Medleys may be needed.

So last night's OM:
House band: 6/7 guys, lead singer, 2 guitars, bass drums, percussion, keys, drummer switched to acoustic guitar ofor 1 song, keyboard player showed up late. Good QSC PA system, but way too loud for my taste/the size of the place with maybe 20-25 people there.
They played a half hour set, starting late, then came OM time, but I was the only one signed up. I did 6 songs (2 originals), the 'classic' songs got the best response, a slightly young audience. I'll post some videos when I get them processed - at least it was a stage setup, with lights, not just the corner of a barroom. Not sure how the sound will be, it was WAY too loud for acoustic.
Met up with the BM guy who had contacted me, but he didn't play. Not sure our songs/styles will be compatible, but we're going to get together in the next week to try out a few songs for next week's British Invasion OM.

Tried playing with a guy last night, we had got together on MOnday to work on a few songs. Had a feelign it wasn't going to work, his ultimate 'ideal situation' is not what I'm looking for. Anyway, Idid 3 songs, then he came up and plugged in, and we did 3 Beatles songs, but he was rough, and not really confident in taking the lead role singing/playing.
Will post a video or 2 when I get them processed.
"The search continues" - funny that I see a couple of new profiles here on BM for people looking for others that I have seen advertise on CL, but they don't have contact info in their profiles, and don't reply to my emails to their CL ads (even a 'no thanks' should be expected).
