Just putting the finishing touches on my next cd... which basically means everything not related to music. Setting up the release date, pricing, which websites will be hosting it... yada, yada..
BUT...
Then there is the fun part - designing the album cover! I dabble with digital imaging and such, so this is an exciting part.
For those of you with releases on here that required album cover art, show it off! I wanna see them because seeing local music cover art is like walking through an art gallery of like-minded people.
Mine came out pretty simple this time around.

Album covers haven't been the same since they were vinyl. Remember reading all the liner notes, looking at the images and trying to decipher their inner meanings. Hard to do on a 4-1/2" square!

The front cover of my CD is a drawing by a family friend, known her since she was a bump on her mother's belly, it's in my profile pics.
Got most of the basic design of my next cover done - using natural stone textures.

Kind of bland. Looks like salt & pepper on wall paper.

Indeed... a wanted something that's no BS this time around.
My first one for my EP is my profile picture... was a photo taken by me in Milwaukee's VA / War Memorial Cemetary.
Some of the most recognized albums to date have VERY simplistic covers... Metallica's Black Album and The Beatles' White Album for instance...

If you release any album digitally (iTunes, Amazon)... they require at least 1400 x 1400 pixels... which is a massive image.

Not really, at 300dpi, that's a 4.6" square. At 72dpi (old style internet viewing, it's 19" square - but looks like crap at that resolution and size).

Go to my Profile and check out two photos For my cd prj
The 1st photo is the Black hat one. Thats the front. The second photo is the artcover (back) which is replete with a cartload of metaphors. My friends all get it, no one else would be expected to,,,but one in particular, I don mind talking about, was the boots up against the bucket....This, to allude to a friend of mine who passed away and to whom the Cd is dedicated to (hence 'kicking the bucket'). He would would have laughed hard about that.

A good cover can be much simpler... I like the ambience and mood strike in yours, but the font needs treatment...
