Turn on the camera, switch to video mode, turn the "flash" on, and you have a boss flashlight!

I have been downloading apps for this thing and I am DIEING to get my hands on a "guitar iRig" $39.95 have you heard of this Paul? it is an app and adapter that allows you to plug your guitar into your iPhone. It has all kinds of effects & amp simulators basically plug in's and I can play along with my iTunes Oh YEAH "this is gonna be GREAT"!

Especially for jazz and blues (but really for any style) you should download and check out - "iReal"

Then you can get a midi version of almost any song and mix out the guitar/bass/drum/key part to rehearse along with it. You could use it as your BAND by plugging the audio into your board and jamming along.

You can even write your own original arrangements. Unlimited possibilities with that one.

But what I love most about the iPhone is the ability to stream video. I can watch my Dallas Cowboys, or free movies (crackle), or youtube video no matter where I am.

Google and other maps get me around anywhere in the world, and I can get to know a city better than the locals with the "around me" app. Not to mention the various language translators and measurement/money conversions

I can find the cheapest price on diesel in any city within seconds.

Another app will let me know when there is a free and open wifi connection near me, or where to find a free wifi connection in any city.

Record ideas for new songs while driving with voice memo apps, find the name/artist/lyrics/youtube/tour schedule of any song with the Shazam app

I can deposit checks into bank of america without leaving my hotel room with the iPhone camera, and accept credit cards with ease using the Square.com app (free!)

How did man survive before iPhone?

I have not! That's the beauty of it. It's never ending learning and never ending app development. WIN!

I know someone who was using his iPhone to record, very limited editing ability, A-to-D conversion is about equal to MP3 quality (which I don't like, but some don't mind). I don't think he was using the iGuitar thing, but Iknow they sell all sorts of iAccessories for this now. Guess it would be handy in recording ideas as they happen (the way some folks use a little micro recorder).

Mike I would use something like this to practice with and learn songs while away from home. When everyone else has those 3 Martini 2 hour lunches the Mullet will be playing guitar!

Being a musician it just seemed like the right choice. I also got the waterproof hardened case that is also another battery you use when the phone battery runs down.

I love my iPhone. So many cool apps that are great for musicians. Check out Anytune Pro - loop songs in your library for practicing with - slow them down and retain the tuning - Also

Another goodie is "Tempo" if you want a metronome.

But yah, having email and FB notifications in your pocket is a great way to keep in touch with the things you care about.

Not crazy about iTunes though. Easy to purchase songs, but iTunes on your computer is prabably the worst-designed music library / syncing application ever invented from a usability standpoint.
