Aquired a new apple iphone 4s today! Anyone else have one of these? If so pro's and con's? So far I am impressed but I have only had it a couple of hours. Being a musician it just seemed like the right choice. I also got the waterproof hardened case that is also another battery you use when the phone battery runs down.

It's my slave Jeff. It does whatever I tell it to. All of my videos from the past year and a half were shot, edited (imovie 5 bucks!) and even uploaded with it.
Get this...

You can shoot live video in 1080P and simultaneously record a line in from a board/mixer/looper ;) etc.

You hold down the home button and dictate commands, for instance...
1. Set a reminder for tuesday at 10 am. Go to the dentist in the morning!
It will then ask you if what it has is right, you review, and say yes. Then it reminds you.
2. Give me directions to minute maid park. It will straight, turn by turn, guide you there without you typing a thing. you don't even have to look at it.
3. I want barbecue. It will say "I found 11 restaurants nearby with barbecue in the description. You touch one and it gives you turn by turn directions like the best GPS.
4. Set a reminder on January 1st 2017 to set an appointment get my colonoscopy
5. Call mom
6. What's the forecast?
7. Tell me a joke
8. Where can I hide a dead body? DO THIS! LOL!
9. Find *fill in the blank*
10. I love this one! Search Wikipedia for Journey the band. Then highlight the whole article. Then have siri read the whole article through the car stereo while you're driving

Get pandora. I run that through the car stereo too.

Use the sound recorder to save ideas.

There are dozens of music programs including full editing multitrack programs.

It goes on and on.

It replaced 75% of my computer time.

Remember "Beam me up Scotty?" from Star Trek? And back then (yeah I'm that old) we said "That'll never happen." It happened.

They're working on the wrist model (ala Dick Tracy) right now. Eventually we'll get 'em implanted.

Wow thanks for the info Paul! I always told folks (past tense) when I would see them wizzing through their smart phones I use a dumb phone because I ain't smart enough to use one of those. Usually they would laugh. I tend to be very frugal and ALWAYS wanted the free phone I get every time upgrade comes around. The last phone lasted 2 years and is the first phone to survive that long as I am a carpenter and they get dropped and damaged. I am in a supervisory position now and don't have to work with tools everyday. With the new phone and hardened case I think this thing is the perfect smart phone for my lifestyle! Now if I can just get smart enough to use it LOL!

The university I work at is doing research toward this end. The ECE department is moving a vast majority of their research into brain mapping and synching the brain with electronic device's. It is kinda cool to see this research as it is being developed!

It's not cool at all. Eventually between that and genetics we'll create humans not caable of surviving without some form of artificial something. We're dooming our own species.

Man, I'm tight, AKA frugal, AKA stingy, AKA, a good steward, AKA (IMO) SMART!

I'm saying this iphone has paid for itself several times over.
One example. My wife and I wanted to spend a night in a nicer hotel locally for our anniversary. I went into 3. $129, $139, $149. I thought the best was the last one. I got that price, thanked him, went outside, used the phone to get on hotels.com, booked, paid for the room, came back in and told the clerk I had a reservation. He looked dumbfounded. He told me I saved $30 doing that. It took 5 minutes.

Just the AA batteries I haven't had to buy in the time I've owned it add up to BIG $. I use it as my main digital picture and video camera. I used to eat up batteries in my digital cameras as I love to shoot.

Pile up the devices, cables, wall, and car chargers I DON'T carry around now and it boggles the mind.
1. Flip phone
2. Flip phone car charger
3. Flip phone wall charger
4. GPS
5. GPS car power supply
6. Digital camera
7. AA batteries
8. Ipod touch
9. Ipod car charger
10. Ipod wall charger

Streamlining your life FTW!

Time is money. It saves time all the time.

Oh I forgot! I have a bible app called youversion. It has all the translations at your fingertips.

One more thing Jeff. A heads up. There are two cameras. One faces you and one faces away. The one facing away delivers 1080p. The one facing you just gives 720p.

I will continue to update as I think of things.

I used the level app to mount a gate post!

It goes on and on literally as people are always writing new apps for them.
