History is great, but not a good idea to take popular uprisings from a wholly different world of technology and apply them to today.
We should be learning from France and Egypt.. not just about what to do, but also what NOT to do!
Be nice if you elaborated just a bit on that France and Egypt thing.
Egypt just threw out one dictator... for another.
France just elected a thief that believes it is OK to steal and redistribute.
I don't need to revisit those history lessons. They are too recent to even call them history.
In both cases the people UNITED and took to the streets and protested, in great numbers. In egypt moreso, even the brutal and violent regime couldn't mow down 10's of thousands of protesters in the public spotlight.
Guns aren't the answer, uniting is. Why do you think they've spent so much time and resources over the years with wedge issues and dividing us?
Guns aren't the answer!
Tell that to pol pot when he used his guns to KILL more than a million of his own people. He did a very great job of uniting them with peaceful unification.
WHERE THE HELL WERE YOU????.... TO TAKE AWAY HIS GUNS?!?!
Egypt: Again, few if any of the protesters had guns.
Do you really think even our government could mow down a million protestors and survive the public and world outrage? Do you think they could even remotely engineer the media blackout that would be required to keep it under the rug? Nope. Guns have nothing to do with this type of citizen upheaval.
Guns come into play AFTER 1 million get mowed down, in the name of domestic terrorism (freedom fighters!). If you think about it, even the rebel alliance in star wars was by USA definition, nothing more than a terrorist outfit.
But now they have drones. Militias, no matter how many guns, will be blown up by a video game from 1000 miles away.
I do AGREE that guns will be extremely valuable IF society as a whole breaks down, but will be fairly useless in fighting the government should things come down to that. Mass protests are the only real option.
