Well after e-mailing quite a few Drummers and Bass players it appears that I have had more replies from on-line free ad sites.
Come on guys if you are not looking say so or is it a case of I'll ditch my band if something better comes up. Another suggestion ditch the influences, I dont care who influenced you if you want a gig then just say so, and just try a few thanks or no thanks replies just in the very very unlikely event that you get off your butt and maybe put the effort in and start a band of your own then you'll understand the frustration.

I utilized the search function 3-4 days a week, messaging anyone in our geographic region, whom was recently active ( last 48 hrs ) for nearly a year.
I found the send response ratio ( in my area anyway ) to be about 20:1

That said we not only completed our band with BM members but made good contacts that got us gigging and continue to do so for some 5 years now.

Our drummer, much like you, in frustration, had put his kit up for sale.
In a last ditch effort he joined BM.
He was on service a total of two days when I contacted him.
He and I instantly hit it off and along with our bassist ( also from BM ) have been the core group now for six years.

There are no instant fixes.
If it was easy / fast anyone could do it.

Sans is right..
And to add... Any meaningful band assembly works pretty much like any other meaningful union / collaboration or marriage... It takes time to find the right 'one'.

Here's a tip: Hit the local open Mics, jams... Meet yer mates there...Its infinately much better odds than here (within the same period of time)

Well I have that T-shirt and the Video I started playing when I was 11yrs old my first band I put together at thirteen many many years ago I worked all over the world mainly live work and a good share of studio house band stuff I've put together bands from a four piece up to 10 and 11 piece units I know how its done, In the uk time does'nt wait for you, I cant spend months looking for musicians because by the time I get the full line up I've lost a band member.Musicians want to play, too many want the money and why not, they are not going to sit around waiting for me to find just the right drummer. Over the years I have noticed a big difference in the type of musician out there, we have colleges that churn out hundreds mainly all technique and no talent the musicains lack soul they no longer play from the heart it seems that loads are going to be the next number one thing writing the next number one and performing from their bedroom its like its a cool thing to be called a muso they totally missed the point, Quote a major label ex,"The music industry is over subscribed" Guys that are getting into the music scene are missing the point, only got to see just how many musicians are not working all are looking, but unless Bon jovi comes knocking they wont get out of bed. Flog your gear and get a propper job

PaperDog has a good point about hitting the open mics. Not only does it give you a performance release you would be surprised at the hidden talent you can find there.Gigging is great and every ones doing it a lot of competition out there and sometimes at those open mics your band could be seeded.
