I 'm just starting up a conversation. What a question? Drug binged miles is the father of brilliant composition. pre drug binged Miles stood out period. I just want to see what ya'll think. It'sa question that needs answering. would we be as far as we are if we never ever took anything that changed our mood or made us saw stuff. or would we all be lawrence welch. (for those of you who like lawrence , GOD BLESS YA).just a question. I will say that the best times i everhad playing i was on something . in the same token i had very few of those experiences because i always wanted my wits about me. i very rarely have been messed up at a gig. I recorded my self duing a solo. i was baked .....well baked. i thought it was a masterpiece. yeah it was a masterpiece of sh!@#. so that quenched my thirst for wanting to play like that. anyways things did change and recordings were insane while under the influence of something. was it the drugs or was it that particular moment in time were one tapped into that thing that hovers above us and gives inspiration? by the way i do not advocate drugs in anyway. i walked my walk they way i did. i've been relatively sober for 8 yrs.alittle drinking once or twice a year and an orgy now and thenLOL
I think if your screwing round jamming, a little herb does help get you out of the box ... more inventive. But on the preformance side "NOT" ...like you said ... you think that you're doing great ... but reality is ... it sounds like sh*t.
I find it pretty unprofessional drinking or doing drugs, getting payed while preforming ... we wouldn't do that in a day job without expecting to get fired ... why some musicians think it OK is beyond me
