I liked what one reader posted:

"A Higgs Bosun walks into the Vatican.
Pope Francis looks at him and says "Why are you here?"
The Bosn replies "I'm here because you can't have Mass without me.""

The article should have been captioned The Higgs Boson ALMOST Found... or something like the Higgs Boson maybe. They weren't that conclusive from what I understood.

The whole Higg's boson interacting with an energy field, giving mass to matter is a little mysterious to me. The experiments will need to be repeatable and verified but if the Higg's is the fundamental particle, what is it made of?

I believe ( without evidence of course ) that "particulate" size is infinite going in both directions.

A silly but acceptable demonstration of what I mean would be the scene at the end of MIB II where "K" opens a locker and the camera pans into a larger universe in opposition to a previous scene where "J" opens a train locker to reveal a smaller one.

Perhaps the earth itself is the "God Particle" . . . or even our entire universe?

Hell we could be an atom in a pimple on a giant elephants buttocks for all we know.

Darn it George I was hoping you would say "it's made out of God". One of those sitting around the campfire stoned conversations.

Well . . . since you mentioned it .

So? What does it "matter"? If there were on the order of 10,000 particles smaller than the Higgs Boson, it still means nothing concerning creation. Or does that say that the Boson "evolved" into an atom? Or were they both created for a purpose?

If many agree on the big bang, where did that material come from? It always was? And then it miraculously evolved into a Universe?

It's like the Tardigrade and the elephant. Both classified as animal, but one is smaller than the other. Is that supposed to mean anything concerning how they came into being?

The Universe and the Boson. Will the discovery change anything in our daily lives? Will it prove anything at all? It can only lead to more questions.

Precisely Slacker. There is no road map in science, every discovery leads us to the next question. But along the way we get cool stuff like velcro and cell phones.

But velcro : Was invented by a guy who took note that weeds stuck to his clothing so hard that he had a terrible time pulling them off. So he looked at the weed and decided to make a synthetic called Velcro. More at personal creativity than deep science. And it didn't cost tax payers billions upon billions.

The cell phone: That was invented by a pied piper to capture all the addictive personalities and hold them in a moronic spell bound state by means of his diabolical control and enslavement device. Hadn't you noticed?

Just wait until they can implant the phone in your head. You think you see zombies now?

For the record, I have a cell phone but only use it when I need to. I don't text, surf the web, play games or send e-mail, mostly because I'm in front of a computer for 8-10 hours most days. When I disconnect I disconnect.

You are so dead on. My cell phone is in a drawer. I don't even use it when I go somewhere simply because I don't think that it is big brothers business where I go. I don't even know why I bothered to get one anymore. Since it is in a steel cabinet the phone taping folks don't have much of a chance of getting to that one. Yeah, I know, they listen to all electronic media including my other phone. But at least where I travel is still the very small portion of my privacy that I can hold on to for a while.

I'm about to get another cell. Don't know how to text, and prefer to be reached at home. The only reason for getting a cell phone for me is the use of emergencies, and because my home phone is crapping out...plus pay phones are about obsolete.
