If you are in Brooklyn or NYC please share this! Nite Bob please share~ One of the saddest reasons cats wind up at ACC is when their owner dies. Mushy and his buddy Simba (also on tonight's list) were brought to the shelter for just that reason. What's even more sad is that both of these boys are seniors that are scheduled to die tomorrow for nothing more than normal senior issues. Mushy is a bit thin and his appetite has decreased in the shelter so clearly he needs out now. Mushy is neutered, declawed, and friendly. All Mushy needs is a spot on your couch to live out his golden years. Please open your heart and home to this friendly senior tonight~

***TO ADOPT THIS ANIMAL THROUGH THE PUBLIC ADOPTION SITE, PLEASE GO TO THE FOLLOWING LINK AND SCROLL DOWN TO BOTTOM TO LOG IN AND RESERVE THE ANIMAL. THERE WILL BE A $50 DEPOSIT REQUIRED. THIS OPTION IS AVAILABLE UNTIL 6AM TOMORROW. http://www.nycacc.org/PublicAtRisk.htm ***

ALL LOCATIONS:

For more information on adopting please read the following:https://www.facebook.com/PetsOnDeathRow/app_396393053713168?ref=ts

DO NOT call the shelter and say you are adopting unless you truly intend on physically going to the shelter to adopt the cat. It ties up phones lines and is a waste of the staff's time to explain the adoption procedure over the phone for someone who is purposely not going to show up. They need every free second of their time to answer calls, assist actual adopters, process intakes, and care for the animals. More importantly, they will note the cats’s file that an adopter is en route which will prevent an actual adopter from saving the cat. This is considered a "fake adoption" hold and that is how animals fall through the cracks and end up being killed.

For more information on a particular cat, email adoption@nycacc.org but ONLY if serious about adopting, and ONLY if you are able to GO TO the shelter in-person. Please do not email for status updates... the only thing you will accomplish is spamming their in boxes and causing REAL adopter emails to go un-noticed. Contact the NYC ACC at (212) 788-4000 for further automated instructions.

SAD... I was just told the same thing. I'm to far gone to be worth saving.

I won't say I wish I was in NY but I am on the lookout for a cat. I'm happy living alone but I miss having a cat. They are such fascinating critters.

I hope somebody adopts this guy. "destroyed," ugh - whater a terrible way to put it. Bastards.

My daughter lives in Brooklyn but she has a dog that she spoils rotten. Is there a link I could send her, maybe she knows someone?

After my grandmother retired from nursing, she became the local volunteer animal rescue center. She would catch stray dogs that "couldn't be caught" by animal control and always had 6-8 dogs or cats waiting for adoption. We took in several over the years and they were the best pets. True appreciation for a warm bed and someone who cares I guess.

I got my cat from a rescue program... She's my best lil friend, sweet lovable, lively... Such a gift.

Same, I rescue every dog or cat I get.

Why buy when they all need a home or be destroyed like those poor sobs that are going to die by lethal injection today.

It's disgraceful.
