If you were a producer, he took your property and nationalized it.

But as long as you get your free cupcake and cell phone, who cares about the other people, right?

From what I've read, he only nationalized the Heinz plantation because the company abandoned it, leaving thousands unemployed.

He stated that the oil belongs to the people of Venezuela, but he didn't nationalize it.
He just raised the royalty rate paid by the oil companies from 1% to 16%.

People (US Corporate / oil interests) try to make Chavez out to be like Fidel Castro, when in reality he was not.

It is interesting the different lenses we see the world through.

Yes Chavez provided bricks and bread to the poorest of Venezuelan's long enough to secure their votes at least. The country still suffers crushing poverty, murder rates and inflation though. Then he proceeded to run industry and oil production into the ground by nationalizing companies, which have been declining steadily in output since 2002. No American or European companies are willing to invest in Venezuela fearing Chavez would simply steal their stuff.

Was he a true hero to the people of Venezuela or just another politician exploiting an advantage in order to gain power? Time will tell.

Chavez could really have helped the poor if he'd shared some of that two billion dollars he managed to squirrel away.

of course it's different ain't it MikeNobody - if a good commie rapes his country - at least he ain't one of those nasty capitalist pigs eh?

The people loved him? big deal. There are people who love Zero and people who loved George Bush. There truly is a sucker born every minute.

I think Chavez will be remembered in Venezuela the way we remember Franklin Delano Roosevelt, not perfect...but, pretty damn good compared to the alternatives.

Hugo Chavez was a democrat, not a dictator, and showed a progressive alternative to neo-liberalism is both possible and popular
The President's death will be mourned by millions of Venezuelans - and rightly so

No.

You were an unpopular loser then and an unpopular loser now because of yourself.

Which isn't all bad.
No one liked me either.
Until Nirvana & Kurt Cobain made it big...then EVERYBODY loved me.
I still say f*ck 'em!

JCP you just made the top ten trouble maker list of 2012.

That's ok though, Lynard is coming up fast trying to get your spot. lol

And for the record, I am not telling you to be quiet.
I like to read what you write and how you rant a bit..seems to be the order of the day.

Hey that's not too bad, "JCP Starlet"...very nice.
I may even use that if I get the chance, that is.. lol

I read what Mike writes as well and at the beginning, I had him on ignore.
I guess it just takes all types to be well-rounded, hmm?
