He took a country with over 60% extreme poverty and almost eliminated it completely. He fought neoliberal capitalism successfully and changed the course of his country for the better.

If nothing else, he was a good guy who fought hard for the weakest and poorest in his nation.

RIP

I concur.

The big industrialist capitalists scumbags of course hated him vehemently.
But, what else would you expect?

Russian Communist Party head Gennady Zyuganov today demanded an international investigation into the death of Hugo Chavez, claiming it was “far from a coincidence” that six leaders of Latin-American countries who had criticized the U.S. simultaneously fell ill with cancer.

“How did it happen that six leaders of Latin American countries which had criticized US policies and tried to create an influential alliance in order to be independent and sovereign states, fell ill simultaneously with the same disease?” Zyuganov told Russian state television, urging an investigation under “international control” into Chavez’s death.

Ditto!

Maybe it was the cancer that made them all say bad things about the U.S.

*cough* Quick fact check guys. The poverty rate in Venezuela is 33% (essentially double the US-Wiki) and it is leading the world in murder rate (10x the US-Wiki). Inflation is also out of control (27%-Wiki). Not exactly the Socialist Utopia one dreams about while reading Marx.

Just a thought, what happens to Cuba now? Without massive subsidies from the USSR or Venezuela what becomes of innocent Cubans who live in poverty under a corrupt government that is completely ineffective. Cubans are unable to feed themselves as agriculture has collapsed under Castro, they must import 80% of their food and everything is already rationed.

Hmmmmm,

It just amazes me the way you think Kramer especially after your rant about your utility bills!
It reminds of Godzilla, superman, batman. Desperate people want a hero to come save them and your answer (hero) is the government.

So you are saying he didn't change his country for the better?

You have of course read the wikileaks cables about the US attempted interventions and sabotage on their political systems and their economy over the last two decades, right?

If you had, you might realize how shameful our hand in everything really is (even to this day) when it comes to latin-america in general.

He made it better for impoverished Consumers.
If you were a producer, he took your property and nationalized it.

But as long as you get your free cupcake and cell phone, who cares about the other people, right?

Who is online
