"Open Mic Night Live will be the first of it's kind, a unique opportunity for performers to play live online through their webcam and get paid. Where you will be able to interact with your fan base, face to face or through our chat interface."

Great idea - can I get an advance? Who is going to pay to watch nobodys play online when they can peruse youtube and vimeo for free?

Where do these bad idea spammers come from?

It's an interesting idea, but I feel like youtube already covers that turf pretty handily. Like Mike said, why would anyone do this when it's already being done for free all the time? What's the point?

This isn't the first one at all.

There is stageit.com and I've seen other portals that do the same thing.

Basically you promote a live set and then perform for tips online.
