General Music Chat

4th Open Mic in 4 weeks tonight. Doing 3 songs (well 2 + a medley) on uke. Practicing songs for these has kept me busy, but also started tracking the last new song for my next CD. Narrowing down which songs will be on it, remixing, started the cover art work.

The Farleys rehearsed last night getting ready for our next shows. We learned "Next Time" (Rollins Band) and "Destroyer" (The Kinks), and started writing a new song. Added a new show on April 5 at Simon's. Tonight I rehearse with the classic rock band. Party on Wayne!

I'm working on the Charlie Parker Omnibook. It's a book of transcibed Bird solos.
Currently on my stand is "Relaxin' At Camarillo". Wow, whatta genius this man was! This is gonna keep me busy for a loooooooong time!

Quite busy musically right now.

The J7 Band is back at it after some time off for personal stuff and we are shaking off the rust for our first gig on March 30th. It's a 50th B-day party at a community center so it's right up our alley. We added a new rhythm guitarist/vocalist that I have worked with briefly before and he sings like a bird! This frees me to focus more on fills and hooks that I simply can't do while singing and holding down the groove. Now I actually have to learn all those fills and hooks.

Still playing acoustic twice a month with a worship team and enjoying the time with so many gifted young musicians.

I found I really needed to tighten up my timing on solos so I have been recording to backing tracks and crafting solos with emphasis on phrasing and timing. If I get something developed enough that doesn't sound like total guitar wankfest I'll post it here for your entertainment.

Despite the God awful tax bill i just got, i'm planning some studio time for the end of next month to get a demo out that I can send to a target audiance.

got tired of trying to do it myself - burning daylight.

Sorry guys, I am busier than a one legged man in a butt kicking contest! Seriously with life, gear maintanence, 2 bands and family it's crazy. In fact I am getting ready to change the wheel bearings in the trailor I haul my p.a. in. rehearsal went GREAT last night. These guys are younger and their music is a lot of fun for an old mullet man like me. The music we are playing is metal for the most part. I never dreamed in my wildest dream I would be doing a rap song and liking it! it is metal rap with wild thing as background music (done tastefully)! I WILL post pics. of the PRS you guys are going to like it I PROMISE! Patient is a virtue!

I don't know what the hell is wrong with me but I have disabled the spell check on this computer now and I can't get it back. I am NOT GOOD WITH COMPUTERS and technology for that matter. As a result posting a picture is VERY time consuming for me. Maybe I'm an IGNERNT son of a b!tch!

I'm learning as I go, but I got volunteered for it.
I just follow my ears, try different set ups, and look things up when I have to.
