A few years ago I mentioned that this would be my 'big wish'. To record both in midi and audio on Linux. I can now, and proudly announce..... that I can actually do this
What a relief I can tell you. It was pretty simple in the end. Leaving things for some time, then coming back to them, really does help.
What I need to do now, is undo what I did, do it, then undo it, so it becomes second nature. After that point I should be able to help anyone who wants to try the free route.
By the way. Ardour 3 is nearly complete. It's a complete DAW with Midi/Audio combo, and works. Like all software, until you've used it, it can be daunting.
Subnote:
Many people in the industry will scoff at Linux, but there's an app for everything, and for free, with a learning curve that only costs time, not money.
I rather like leaving the hammer and nail industry as regards mixing in cement,'their' view of what our/your music should sound like.
Will let you know.
