I've recruited my old buddy Jamey Hilleary to help us at a possible all original gig and two gigs at Longbranch Steakhouse in July and September. Jamey is a multi dimensional musician, plays harmonica and keyboard very well, sings well, writes kickass tunes multi-genre, and in the past few years has taken up guitar, both accoustic and electric. What possibilities for this upcoming year with Lowell Premer on guitar. I can hardly contain my excitement. Now if only I live long enough....and don't drop dead from shoveling too much snow...

Hey Bob, It occurs to me that doing an all originals in a place like a steak house /bar as opposed to a dedicated performance venue (i.e Top Act stage gigs, etc) could back fire. My assumption is that steak eaters and hard drinkers are the last people on earth that would give a crap whether the set contained originals or not. So I guess what I'm saying, is that the intended qualities of Originals are most likely gonna be lost on the audience in that venue... unless of course they havethe same meter, pace, structures that covers do. (Being blues and all)

Your thoughts?

Love having long term future commitments to make music.
Just something reassuring about it all.

You misunderstand. The steakhouse is a mix of covers and originals. The originals gig is at a smaller bar who refuses to pay the BMI/ASCAP fees. They've had a few original bands in there, none of our calliber. I have been performing originals at places that historically NEVER have originals. People don;t know the difference,my originals are that good. I don't argue with people over what I play. You get what I want. The irony of the smaller bar is that they have new owners and for many years all they had was classic rock and NO originals. They won't know what's going to hit them...
