The ingredients are there to do whatever you want to do. Why ruin that with a label?

They will take your copyrights and sell you your own music for a few cents less than they sell them to your fans, cutting your throat. You won't get any of it, of course. You'll also have to manage and book yourself, because labels don't help you do that, though the new "360 deals" they offer demands a percentage of every penny you make at gigs too.

Record companies are GONE, bro. Forget them and get on with life. Be excellent and that will be enough to have an excellent adventure.

All you need is 1 out of every 300 people (in the USA) to buy and it's a million seller Gold record.

Be the label.

- Production wise, it needs some work. (See other posts)
- The song is intact, but might need some stronger hook, and more pulse in the overall dynamic in the theme.

But its a good start, so just keep on keepin on... Don't dwell too long on it...move on to the next song.. You'll get there.

Alright, I'll try to figure out how to filter the vocals. I agree that there is a lot of autotuned garbage out there, thats why we are going to try and stay original and improve. The hardest part about writing lyrics is creating a hook. My band and I hope to learn and develop that skill. Thanks for the feedback! Have a nice day!

You can use a little AUTOTUNE, just don't lean on it too hard.

Bravo...nice tune. I'm not gonna address your "good enough for a label" question but I will offer what I hope will be taken as constructive criticism.

I have a little trouble with the bass drum hits....especially the second one in the pattern where it hits on the "and' of '2'. They don't always quite line up with the bass playing. It feels particularly unsettled from 0.11 to 0.30.

And this is entirely my personal taste, but after awhile that same rhythmic figure the bass drum plays (and the music follows) of hitting on the '1' and the "and" of '2' gets pretty old for me with it running though the entire song.

Personally I think it might work better if you came off that same pattern for the choruses or even a bridge to break it up a little.

Let me pare down your initial question-

"...for a record deal ?"
Why do you want a record deal?
You don't. That was mostly rhetorical (You DON'T want a record deal, right?)

Someone here posted something along the lines "they don't want to do the work FOR you, etc etc" and that's mostly true. Except they WILL. Even if you hand them a wonderfully polished and complete gem, they more often than not STILL need to interject something 'creative' into your work. And even if they don't, they still insist on taking the lions share of the money as if they HAD done all the work.
By their history and nature, record companies never sought out fresh new voices or talent, so much as fashion their own artists to sound like whatever the 'fresh new' talent is.
In the cutting edge times we live in- you don't NEED a record company do do this. You're partway there recording the stuff yourself. Now play out and sell some CDs/downloads. Then play out at MORE places. Lather, rinse.....

The days of multi-platinum worldwide sales may not be what they 'were', but remember- those artists did not get as much of that money as we assume.


As to whether the song is GOOD?
It's not my 'thing' and it does very little for me. However, that means very little. I think much a the very popular songs floating around are a bit plain, tepid and trite. But they are still WILDLY popular, and 'connect' with LOTS of people. So your song may be one of those, I'm not the one to say.
I WILL say this- This style/genre BEGS for 'perfection' and polish. As you might have gathered from some of the critiques that have been posted here. 'Pitchy', 'Breathy', 'Kick drum' and such- ALL of that needs to be EXACT in this kind of music. You know, like in jazz, a 'wrong' often isn't? Kinda like that. My stuff is all distorted slop- so even if something is a little 'off', it often still seems like it fits.
Or think of how a shaky hand held camera shot would 'ruin' a Star Wars scene. Yet it's crucial for, say, a Blair Witch type of movie.

To that end, your stuff still needs some big polishing. But if it's your voice and you're saying what you feel you need to say- then polish it.
Polish it, pitch it, publish it and sell it. Don't wait for a label, do it yourself. If a label calls later on in life, you won't have to give them EVERYthing, iif you decide to give them ANYthing
