Also I would not reccommend using Craigslist especially if you are just a guy looking for a friend. A lot of the musicians in my area on that site are TOO serious about putting a band together or looking for gigs, and most are into heavy metal, and hard rock, and indie rock and are ONLY in it to make money.

Any better ideas, Mike Nobody?

Well, if you've burned your bridges there, then there is not much I can do to help you online.
You could try changing your approach, maybe.
Be more specific on what you want or do not want.
You'll get fewer replies.
But, if everybody there thinks badly of you for some reason....then you're done on CL for awhile anyway.

There was another site I used before called My Band....something.
It was surprisingly effective.
But, they have ceased to service the United States.
It is entirely a UK operation now.

If you are looking for a friend, instead of just a bandmate, try hanging around the clubs.
Talk to the bands.
Someone might steer you where you wanna go.
You might even wanna put flyers on music store bulletin boards.
It's worth a shot.

Those are some good ideas there, but I'm not the kind of guy that likes to go to nightclubs, and well, the music store in my area I've been using to post ads isn't enough to reach my target audience.

The music I'm into (pop and soft rock) isn't what everybody else in Baton Rouge is into. I've been posting requests at Guitar Center since about 2008, and it always seems to reach individuals who are music producers or people who want to invite me to play in their band.

I'm looking for another guy around my age who shows a passion for pop and soft rock music and who isn't involved in any bands or playing at church. Someone who has a home studio in his bedroom and just plays music for enjoyment, and is also looking for that special friend who shares his passion for pop and soft rock music, and would like to do other fun activities together like play video games, and just help each other get through life together, and in the future, play some free shows around Baton Rouge.

When will someone mention something good that I haven't already tried? Something new and exciting, but not dangerous. For example, a pop and soft rock music club for young adults that is open to the general public and free to join that is held at either a music store, or at a local college?

The reason I mention this is because the problem with posting ads alone is that I have no way of mingling with my audience as a whole, and my requests ALWAYS reach someone who is in a band already, or is a music producer, or I reach someone who doesn't even have a clue as to what pop and soft rock music is, or who is just learning the basics.

Any further ideas?

You could always go to church. I'm not even kidding.

How many times do we have to go over this? The artists I'm into are NOT suitable for a church environment.

How many times do I have to tell everyone: no matter WHAT you suggest, Cliffie has an excuse on why it won't work. He even has excuses on why his excuses aren't excuses!

Instead of acusing me of making excuses, use a little common sense and think about WHY that given suggestion is not the best place to start in my search. And also review over some of the suggestions I give which helps improve the quality of what I'm trying to learn about.

Also if I have a question about how to use something more effectively, or want to learn about your experiences at the given place you reccommended, definetely share.
