nothing like adding a cold and calculated business model to art...
I'm personally hoping that the majority of great music comes from artists and bands that follow the DIY model and refuse to sign with a major label. I'd like to see all the majors fail and the smaller, private labels (at least the ones who care) come in and add some humanity back into the art.

So.. they are going to carefully track plays to figure out which artists people really want to hear and put their money where it will do the most good??? Also schedule concerts in towns with lots of interested fans??
Capitalist bastards! /Sarc off
This has been going on since the days of Mozart. They are just using modern tools to do the same thing.
