Man up dude.

or just STFU.

What do you mean man up? I am a man and I am qutie strong. I am just a little annoyed with the current audience my ads are reaching and trying to talk to others on sites like this to learn how to better reach my target audience.

By the way, I'm looking for a guy rather than a girl, BECAUSE most of the people who are into most of the artists I like are female (not to mention a lot of them are preteen and teen girls) and I am tired of coming across those fans. I want to find the more rare guy fans who are in the age range of 20 to about 30-something.

Also this person is not likely going to be at a local church either due to some of the artists I enjoy being VERY controversial. For example, consider songs "Like A Virgin" by Madonna, or "For Your Entertainment" by Adam Lambert or "Pokerface" by Lady Gaga. Those are just some examples of some songs and artists that would be taboo in a church environment.

Thanks for those who are willing to help, and thanks for those who are wishing me good luck.

I'll keep doing what I've been doing (posting an ad at Guitar Center here in Baton Rouge) and keep you guys updated.

you don't need to reply to this comment... I already know what you're going to say. But this is the advice I would give my own son in your situation.
This is not to berate you but if you really want assitance then you have to do everything that you don't want to do and those things that seem too difficult.
You must find a way to get to the places regardless of your handicap.

You claim to want something so badly. Well you may have to climb mountains to get to it!
It won't be easy but that's the only way it works in life.

Not everyone who goes to church is anti-Lambert/GaGa. That's just an excuse! But how many churches have you been to?
As others have said I also believe that's where you'll eventually find what you're looking for. Maybe it's the 11th church you visit but you won't know if you gave up after going to one or two.

Good things are difficult to acheive... only those that don't make excuses even have a chance to get it! Simple truth in life regardless of anyones handicap and we all have em.

Relax Cliffy, everything will be ok..

Take it all with a grain of salt. (thick skin, kid.)

And Jahva you make it sound so good, I think I am going to till some more soil in church and see who I can uncover. One never knows what or who they may find in church. (no lol there, by jingo)

Musicians are hiding in plain sight, you just have to find them before they get away or join up with undesirables trying to bake a cake with mud, water and leaves.

I want to find these guys NOW! I've been to 3 different churches, and ALL of them BAN pop music. I'm serious. I WILL NOT FIND these pop and soft rock music at a church. This is NOT an excuse. This is common sense. Think about what a church group is for. Also I should point out that at every church I've tried, every individual I made friends with was someone who was leading me away from my goal and was HEAVILY into Christian music.

Also the bars and clubs idea is ALSO too extreme for me as well. I am not the kind of guy that likes to go to bars and drink with the guys, and whatnot. Heck, even as a teen, I didn't give into peer pressure.

I would like to check out some MIDDLE ground areas. Something that takes place during the daytime, and where there's no pressure in having to watch my back (at a club or bar) and where things aren't in a religious context (church).

Cliff, you are not well known and thus in a position of disadvantage.
(join the crowd)

Try just playing with anyone that will play with you and don't think about what other commitments they have, just whether or not you can do what you want to do with them playing along side of you...

You're over complicating the situation, which can be complicated to begin with.

PS: No music should ever be banned, except maybe rap and/or hip hop..lol

(We'll let POP live a couple more months before we have to shoot it)

I have, and as I've said, a lot of those individuals didn't work out because they either didn't know the song, didn't have the right passion, or were too far ahead in their music pursuit or they simply didn't have enough friends who were into the music I enjoy, and so I would have to let them go. Also I had to let some go due to the fact that they lived in an area near or in Baton Rouge that was way quite a drive for them to make, and in all of the above cases, I felt I was wasting their time. Keep in mind that in some of these cases, when the music aspect didn't work out, I've tried to stay general friends with them and meet some other musicians through them, but would find out that they were not able to do so.

Cliff, you shouldn't be so picky !!!! (imo)

At first, one plays with anyone just to get a little recognition among the locals that "this guy can play".

AFTERWARDS you can be selective, kind of. (maybe)(hopefully)

I'll play my guitar and sing, but when I don't especially appreciate what's going on, I will retreat to my bass (and only the bass) because I can "fill" and not feel directly responsible for something I don't really appreciate or like.

Maybe you can learn to withdraw a little so you can interact with more musicians and not feel what's going on so fervently. That way you still get to play but don't feel slighted when you do music you don't like?

You have to find a method to deal with the madness. The alternative is to quit or lose your mind, both are unacceptable.

The Church bans pop music... well I guess that's possible but you're not looking for a church you're looking for players.
Sorry Cliff that's just an excuse.

One of my sons who is a drummer has played in several bands here and at least half of the kids in the bands where (are) church members. (They usually played a progressive/rock sound.) They use to do a cover of "Pokerface" they did an all rock guitar version. Not that great but nonetheless church going kids playing Lady GaGa...
My youngest son plays guitar... pop acoustic kind of sounds... also goes to church.

Like I said.. I already knew what you're going to say.

I'm not looking for "players". I am looking for a keyboard player, and someone who isn't an active performer, but is more of a hobbying studio dude. Someone who isn't committed to any current music projects. This includes those who actively attend church or play at church, and isn't already committed to playing in another rock band or teaching music. Someone who has a much, much more flexible schedule.

I'm looking for your somewhat nerdy guy who may be involved in a small video gaming group, and is taking some general studies college courses, and possibly has a part-time job at the college, or at a local store near me like Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Albertson's or something like that.

Guys - give up. If you didn't learn last time: no matter what you suggest, Cliffie has an excuse for why he can't do it.

I am however, willing to play for some music teachers, and for people that might run a music program at a church and without having to commit to attending services at the church, like talking through an online forum, form networking circles.

How many times do I have to tell you. These are NOT excuses. I'm trying to use common sense here, and you guys need to recongize that. Also if these were excuses, I wouldn't put so much effort into explaining why that's not such a good idea, and sharing my past experiences with you guys.

Instead of acusing me of making excuses, try to relate to my situation. Listen to me instead of trying to coax me to go along with what works for you.

That's one of the smartest things you've said Cliff... could be a good direction to find other like minds. There are collaboration sites as well. You won't be hanging out in the same room but you can create music and still make friends through some sites.
