Since I couldn't change the name of our band on the MySpace page, I just deleted it.
I figured I'll start over from scratch.

Problem is, MySpace is a goddamn piece of sh!t!
Now, I cannot even access my personal non-music page.
I guess, for now, my personal page IS the band page.

Does anybody even care about MySpace anymore?

And I deleted it today. I hadn't even thought about it for a few years until you brought it up.

I deleted my page/profile about 2 years ago- It became nothing but a spam-monster and anyone not in a band were seemingly the only people left on there.

Also, when it got bought up they put so much garbage code in it that it would freeze up browsers, crash, take forever to load, etc..

Even facebook today is starting to follow the path to downfall, corporate buyouts tend to have that effect. The real question should be - what's next?

Yes, that's the question: "What's next?"

Most of us are probably in the wrong place to know - just like when Facebook started it was for college kids, then expanded out to the mainstream.
Supposedly Myspace is being revamped to make it more current, but I think 99.99% of people are going to consider it 'old' no matter what they do.

Not sure if anyone cares about it, I haven't been on there in a while. But I just went to look and our songs have over 5,000 plays, a couple from today.

. Could you say that those plays have done you any good, as in selling CD's, helped get any gigs, etc.?

5,000 plays is better than zero plays.

Bob I honestly couldn't tell you if ANY of this has made any difference to anyone. I know we have our friends and fans, and that it's easier to stay in touch with them with these tools, but whether someone playing my song in Australia makes any difference, I would probably have to say no. Yet you have to try. We don't plan on being rich and famous, just having a lot of fun.

That's all you can hope for, "to have fun and to do what you enjoy doing".

These days anyone can be a musician, just not a good one and fame is all about who you know and who you blow.

"Do the absolute very best you can when you perform/record and realize that the people in charge don't give a crap about artists, they just want the $".

You could be writing absolute sh*t, they don't care...
If your bringing in revenues, why should they care? They don't.

I rather liked MySpace, it wasn't like FB, it was just music orientated. I'll still keep mine even if the old version dies off. The new one looks more promising in terms of the layout, and ideas.
I think what developers forget is that it is about music, and not likes, it is not about what the industry wants to send us, but it is about what musos send out. Very important that, if anyone wants to make money from anything.

Play something yeah......

I know you'll like some parts, and not others. More stuff is brewing, and I really like the sound of it too.

As regards MySpace, yeah I miss people like Lady Gaga who used to send messages and stuff, other great bands who I signed up for blogs with. I read, many don't that's totally sad frankly.

Whatever you want I guess, it just has to work for everyone, not just agencies and sites, but for everyone. Reverb is doing pretty well again now.
I'll stay there too, it's about music after all.

Cheers:
