I was paying homage to a great piece of work and a song that I carried with me from the 80's. Each element comes from the original track and I merely re:placed, re:mixed and re:produced Kraftwerk's version and gave it a new millennium feel. Don't worry I'm not offended.

I didn't say electronic music was youthful, the growth in the electronic scene now is youthful and I incorporate elements from new and old in my sound. My concept album "re:produce" is exactly what it sounds like hence the mutli sampled songs. It is a recreation of great songs and paying homage to the ones that carried me through life. I have a ton of original work without samples as I've been at this for almost 20 years and I'm no young buck at all and this is just the direction I'm going at this moment. I still appreciate the fact that you took time to listen and spark some controversy over these couple of songs. I will not change my approach because I haven't made any music for you, we as "musicians" do for self.
peoplemover wrote:With all due respect, words like "horrible" and "butchered" are negative. Feedback is great and I welcome it but when it is negative, it's negative and when it's constructive, then that is where we can accept it without defense and attempt to grow.
So, thanks for caring enough to humor me on this post and critique my music but again, with all due respect, my genre of music is a separate path than that of which you follow so your words are accepted as your opinion and I will keep on "creating" the way that I see fit.
It's great that you don't like remixes, you shouldn't listen and comment on them if you're biased against them, there's no justice in that. I don't like mushrooms so I don't eat them.
In the end, hold the youthful comment against me as you wish, I stand behind the claim that electro music is a youthful movement, not originated by this generation but carried on and magnified by it.
Love is love and I appreciate the convo either way, it feels good to discuss and debate my music with people who are not my "yes" people. It's just funny that none of my critics are of the same genre or anywhere near it.
Respect,
Matt Rogers
