I am not worn down, just worn out from trying to talk sense to people. Tired of wasting my time and breath on folks that will argue over whose pecker is bigger! On LINE

Why do you think I mostly stay out of political threads?

no sense getting caught up in all that nonsense.

I've been moderator of a PC tech support forum since early 2001. Early on they started the same thing, I had to think on a way to handle it. I didn't want to censor the forums outright, but I didn't want the attitudes I see here either, which I knew would happen. So I just told them OK, keep it civil or I close the thread.

They could always start another one, I'd close it if it got out of hand. If any particular individual had a habit of showing a nasty attitude, he/she was shown the door. I think I banned no more than a half dozen people in the first 2 years. I probably didn't close more than 8 or 10 threads either. If that.

It can be done, but it's not easy. Without censoring people. Yeah it can be argued you're supposed to have "free speech", but the fact is it's a privately owned website, when you joined you electronically signed a binding agreement that says you will not attack or insult other people, among other things, so the ugly political arguments are actually unacceptable, and you have already agreed NOT TO DO IT before you ever type the first word in the forums. Go read the TOS. (Terms of Service)

I had that thrown in my face, you can't censor us...Yep, I can. Read the TOS, and I would copy and paste the appropriate line into the thread. You can't do any thing about it...sure I can, I can ban you. I can also report your IP Address to your local police and have you arrested. It's right there in the TOS, when you agree to that TOS the site's admin has the right to ban you, has your IP address and if you make specific threats can report it to the police.

I'd have to go look it up here on BM to get the specific language, but any time you insult someone on the forums, the BM admin can ban you for violation of the TOS. They just don't enforce it.

So I usually stay out of political rants, except for the occasional comment just to stir the pot a little...

Jeff you take it too seriously. If you're going to indulge in political debates, you have to grow a thick skin and also develop the ability to simply ignore the personal attacks. As well as avoid bringing yourself to that level.

Pete is right. Thick skin... I'll never forget my first experience on an ACLU forum... I thought everyone on there was the "anti-christ meets Alien" They literally make BM and most other forums look lame in comparison I keep saying this... at the end of the day... nobody gives a crap what somebody said on a forum...I mean, I don't think it lingers around in anybody's mind. If it does, that's a problem , beyond the scope of a moderator.

Jeff has a thick skin. He just gets tired of all the liberal answers that have no common sense and no positive direction.

I watch the comments from some of extreme advocates, and where they have changed societal values. I also notice that you of the extreme agenda CAN NOT answer the questions that some of us raise.

I am DONE with personal attacks... I realize how pointless and stupid that can be. Stephan has taught me that. He is actually an amazing thinker. Please leave your personal attacks out of any discussion. This is actually a brilliant OPEN forum... Most of you are really GREAT musicians. Most of you bring up points that are very valid. Musicians in general are very smart people.

Have a good day! I have a major screw up to go deal with. 28 inches of snow and I left a tiny bit of ethinol gas in the bowl of the carburetor of my snow blower. One tiny mistake... gas from 2 years ago. Ethinol swells the the tiny seats that feeds gas into the bowel.

Either I move a couple of tons of snow by hand or at 7 O'clock in the morning I fix something that I have been told can't be fixed... made in China.

That really sucks...most gas stations have to rework their pumps before starting to pump ethanol for exactly that reason, it swells gaskets and seals, and the greedy bastards still sell it so it can destroy the seals in our cars...I suspect that's why I have a chainsaw and 3 weedeaters that all need carb rebuilds right now...even though I always run them dry before storing for the winter, and always have. I worked on the damn things for a living too long, years before ethanol existed they would still develop "varnish" it's called if the bowl was left full for long periods of time.

If it happens to stay wet, it's goo when I open it up. If it dries, it's just about like paint...and not easy to clean out of the tiny air passages that get clogged either way. The goo is a little better, some carb cleaners will thin it enough I can blow it out with compressed air. In very light cases, just a few squirts while it's running will do the trick, but usually...nope...I've had to rebuild carbs 3 times and use torch tip cleaners before finally getting it all cleaned out.

Now with ethanol to deal with, I always run them dry even in summer. Unfortunately I can't do that with my Jeep...

Its not that these companies make such foolish mistakes in design like this... (we all make mistakes); it's that they don't have the manhood to own up to it and offer resolution to the consumers... China's quality ethics are driven directly by the monkey-suits in America, who cut the deals. So, on my list of people, whom I recommend for an ass-whipping, I think I'll add the "rubber -dogshit, vomit and gasket " manufacturers...

This is what I did Paleo. I walked outside and realized we had over 30 inches of snow. At that point in time I knew it was a real bad situation. Even with a snowblower. I have a new carb ordered, Charlie the owner of one of the better equipment repair places, said he tried to rebuild that $50 dollar piece of junk. "It's not worth the effort."
The reason is the one piece gasket that separates all the little tubes. The ethanol swells the gasket and as soon as you take it apart it expands and will never go back together. OK, so this is what I did aside from cleaning the main ports etc, etc.
I cut little pieces of it out of the gasket with a razor blade. I must have cut out 20 tiny pieces to make it fit again. Then I took some permatex black and carefully used a tooth pick to paint the gasket form.
I put it all back together and VROOM,VROOM,VROOM.

Honestly... I said a little prayer before I did all this... I know, thats cheating. Works for me.

People got whacked here again.

Great news for me,from you.
I just picked up a Benelli R1 3006. Put a Weaver 50 mm scope on it. I can't wait to zero it in. Now it looks like the range will be closed tomorrow. Walking out 2 hundred yards to hang targets in 3 feet of snow, doesn't sound fun.

If you're correct than next weekend will be no better. OH WELL.

Yes. It is good to make peace with those who wish to take all our freedoms allowed under the bill of rights and the constitution.. :)

F the newbies. F everyone that disagrees with me.

Why does everyone continue to think that everyone here should get
along. That is so unrealistic and naive. This forum is made of PEOPLE more than musicians. We are people first. People are infinitely different.
Music is ONE common thread in us but there are so many other threads
that make up all of us.

You don't get along with all your own family. What makes you think you
should get along with all us shmucks.

Geesh, wake up.[/b]

We communicate with our fingers online, unlike in real life. It took me years to learn how to be more careful about HOW I say something, though the content and meaning were not changed. Without body language and voice inflections, it's easy to assume something that was never intended, so really what we need is for the readers of posts to not be easily offended.

Jimmy and Mike would be laughing if they knew that I'm recording my new CD with nothing but liberal jews in the room. They all know me and yet we are brothers in creating good music instead of political/spiritual opponents. I find them to be genuinely giving and caring people, even if we might disagree on how we should achieve the goal of making this earth a better place for all of us.

They are a bit surprised that I'm not afraid to hang out with "Pajans" (Polish accent for "pagans"). We laugh about calling this album "T and the California Jew People". I am being very careful about bringing up any other topic than music. Isn't it like that in every band we've all played in? Isnt' that what makes life interesting?

A discussion forum is about discussing a wide range of topics, so freedom in communication is essential to having a good forum. Still, I'd bet most of the acrimony would disappear if we were all sitting at the same table, even though we might say the exact same things we already do here.

The difference is that we would have more respect for someone sitting within arm's reach, even if it's easier rant anonymously online. When someone says something that really irks me, I try to imagine how I would answer if my dad has said it. One cross word to him and I wouldn't be able to sit down for a week!!
